Gordon Bretag

Does anyone know where Gordon Bretag is after OZJET and whats he like to work for

zanzibar 6th Sep 2009 06:44

What a strange question - you don't know where he is but want to know what he's like to work for. How would you ever consider working for him if his whereabouts are unknown?

Incidentally, if you do find him and write to him for a job, at least spell his name correctly....

1224 6th Sep 2009 08:58

Very soon to be new CP of CSWAFC @YPJT.

tinpis 6th Sep 2009 10:38

Gordon? Good lord, wasn't he the CP of Pontius's Pilots?

olderairhead 8th Sep 2009 00:07

zanzibar, unless you know another Gordo, I think you will find his name has been spelt correctly.

Chimbu chuckles 8th Sep 2009 03:42

wateroff 8th Sep 2009 08:11

GAFA 8th Sep 2009 08:51

Gordon is one of the good guys, he has been CP at a number of places plus some time at CASA in Brisbane. Have heard the same re him heading over to WA.

DaisyDuck 8th Sep 2009 09:50

"Very soon to be new CP of CSWAFC @YPJT"

...sorry...what does CSWAFC stand for? I am an Easterner you see.

illusion 8th Sep 2009 10:45

Dunno what it stands for but if HE is going for that gig it is a reflection of the depth of the financial crisis. Must be down to his last 3 mil.

To the Yacht Gordo!!!

PS thanks for the job offer at Ozjet......but no thanks:E

Art Vanderlay 8th Sep 2009 11:51

I didn't know what CSWAFC meant neither, but he oracle of Google revealed it to be :
China Southern West Australian Flying College

To the original question though - is he a good guy to work for? YES sirree! The absolute best CP I have ever known. He can't stand sycophants though, (so you better not tell him to his face) but a real straight shooter, take no prisoners kind-of-a-guy. He rewards honesty and integrity and even has his own waypoint named after him in the Pacific - GORDO! If you have the opportunity to get to know Gordo - go for it:ok:

Exaviator 8th Sep 2009 23:00

"Is he the one who joined TAA in 1967?"

Gordon joined TAA in 1967, completed a DC-3 course and on completion was posted to TPNG as an F/O on type and based in Rabual. As to the spelling of his surname the original poster was correct.:ok:

But "Rabual" is spelt "Rabaul".

Last I saw him, he was with APNG after OzJet! Is he seriously going to China Southern? :\

gas-chamber 9th Sep 2009 10:30

He is already there instructing on the Citation. Training is something he has always enjoyed. He can't be doing it for the money. But the first time they piss him off he will go sailing again, I predict.

gas-chamber 7th Oct 2009 04:37

Airstream did not get old GB bagged the way he was hoping to. Nice try WC.
Meantime the AFAP site has a jet job going at China Southern for anyone interested.

Waghi Warrior 1st Sep 2011 00:42

Hevilift PNG Chief Pilot now I think ?

Jabawocky 1st Sep 2011 01:53

I spoke with him a few months back, something about sailing his yacht down the coast..........might have been a long holiday between gigs. Don't recall what was next.

Mach E Avelli 1st Sep 2011 05:01

Month on month off - plenty time to sail boat & enough money to buy new winches along the way.:ok:

Jabawocky 1st Sep 2011 07:13

winches........ or wenches? :E

zanzibar 2nd Sep 2011 12:01

so many jobs ....................... why?

Mach E Avelli 3rd Sep 2011 00:12

It is known as semi-retirement. Work a while to ease the boredom, travel a bit, spend the money on winches (and wenches), work a while, repeat. For as long as there is a demand for that sort of thing and the body and brain can do it, why not?
Beats the hell out of the old folk's home.

Splendid idea. During my time with Air Nauru in the late seventies (and more) I met a handy-man traveller who went by boat and occasional aeroplane between islands in the South Pacific. He used to fix old pedal operated Singer Sowing machines that had been used by missionaries on the islands. People would then ask him to fix other knick-knacks such as toasters, fridges and so on. He got free accommodation and meals wherever he went and made many friends with benefits among attractive nubiles en-route. (pun, Joyce...)

Exaviator 4th Sep 2011 23:31

Centaurus,

Were the missionaries sowing crops, or sewing clothes?:)

macdonaldjames93 9th Nov 2011 06:58

Not anymore someone said his left already

geeup 19th Jan 2012 04:37

Hasn't been at Hevilift for some time now.

Unusual-Attitude 19th Jan 2012 05:19

GB, absolute gent!

The line pilots loved him, the management...hmmm, not so much. :E

As has been said, a dead straight shooter, and I'd work for him again in a heart beat.

Think he's left HL now, don't know where to, but if he sails by Cairns, i'll be insulted if he doesn't drop in for a beer! Alright Gordo! :}

Exaviator 20th Jan 2012 02:30

You will be waiting a while, his boat is in Hobart at the moment :ok:
