Camden tower to reopen again on weekdays???

Overheard a conversation last sunday between the safety officer and a fellow aviator that talks already on the way about reintroducing air traffic control during the week.
It seems that there has been an alarming increase in aviation incidents recently prompting the decision.
I think it is a big step in the right direction. There are also talks about increasing the number of controllers in BK tower.
Anyone have any further info or thoughts on this?

Given all the additional overflow since Hoxton Park closed, I can't say it'd be a bad decision, so long as they can find the controllers to do it.

My impression was that when all the existing GAAP's transition to Class D Camden will become a GAAP permanently

170, don't you mean, it'll become D too?

Not from what I have heard. But don't take my word for it, it's all chinese whispers at this point

Plenty of info on the CASA website about it. CASA - Revised procedures at GAAP aerodromes

... the directions require: <... snip ...> The provision (within 9 months) of aerodrome ATS daily for the hours of daylight without any reduction in the service currently provided during the hours of darkness.
And a thread currently running on it here ... http://www.pprune.org/dg-p-general-a...rocedures.html

It's not chinese whispers; Plenty of solid information out there.

To answer your question, yes, Camden tower will operate 7 days a week during the hours of daylight. Also means tower will open earlier and close later on Sat and Sun than they do currently.

I agree Camden has got a bit hairy at times during the week since YHOX closed. Can't come soon enough for me.

As already said there is an existing thread on what brought this about.
