This aircraft was flown by Paul McGuinness (QANTAS) and the photo was taken at Purnim (farmers paddock,) South West Victoria. Does anyone know what year and can you add anything of interest? Note the farmers wives in the aprons.

John Hopton is your man www.thecollectionaero.com/index.php

P.S. Hopton writes -

Not much I can tell this bod . . . if he had listed the Anson's serial number it might have been helpful!

However . . . it is a 67 Squadron aircraft, who were largely based at Laverton and places around the southern coast and who carried out most of the shipping patrols in those areas in the latter stages of the war.

And . . as far as my limited knowledge of the Q.A.N.T.A.S. Paul McGinness (note spelling) goes, he was called up in W.A. during the war to - if my memory serves me correctly - run the catering section of one of the larger R.A.A.F. bases . . . but am not 100% on exactly his war-time role.

How-ever . . . there is NO Way he would have been flying Ansons, especially on an operational squadron . . . . I have an idea that there may be a little bit of "let's see if we can get warm & fuzzy on this . . . and two and two make seven . . . "

The photos were given to me last night by a mate. His mother is one of the women standing at the aircraft. The remains of the Mcguiness house lie just to the north of Panmure. It is basically a shell and a symbol of humble beginnings. I will get a pic one of these days.
