Why Choose Virgin Blue
I am currently trying to make a decision as to whether or not to return to Australia and take on a role with Virgin Blue. I have another option with another carrier - but want to know if anyone can tell me what it is like to work for Virgin Blue?
Can someone tell me what are the benefit of working with this Airline? Why should I choose Virgin? |
Hi s&j
You might want to post this in the DG & P forum, you will get a better response. |
Do your 'due diligence' prior to joining as VB have just announced a further 5 737's to be pushed against the fence as of June 1st 2009. They are scaling back and laying off staff.
Tough times ahead for all airlines and not just VB. All the best. |
Probably depends on what role you will be filling there. I'm guessing it is not as crew (front or back-end).
Like all operators, they are feeling the pinch. Unlike some operators they are taking positive steps to minimise the impact of the GFC. Overall a fairly well run and progressive operator. Probably the most important questions :
Good luck. |
Whats the other job?

Without wanting to reduce the debate to vitriol,do a little research and providing facts rather than insults.
Yes it is from two well known print media, believe what you may but be aware of all viewpoints. Ross Kelly and Bill Lindsay | May 29, 2009 Article from: Dow Jones Newswires "VIRGIN Blue is looking at making further cuts to its domestic flying next financial year, chief executive Brett Godfrey revealed yesterday. The airline's current plans to reduce the number of seats it flies next year by 2.4 per cent on an annualised basis, needs to be cut further as demand remains weak, Mr Godfrey told an investment conference in Sydney. "So we are looking at further capacity cuts to take us somewhere around (negative) 5.5 per cent," he said. Australia's second-largest airline, Virgin Blue this month cut 8 per cent of its domestic services and up to 400 jobs by removing five Boeing 737 aircraft from service for at least 12 months. Like key domestic rival Qantas, Virgin Blue has been reducing capacity and jobs to save costs as passengers are curbing travel." Oooroo |
Not Utter B******T. Its all over the news
I just want to reinforce the last post from greenslopes. :ok:
NeedABigHammer says : Don't listen to all the uneducated b******t rumours that are spread aound on this site.. Just look at the actual news site where the story the came from and you will realise it is not B****T at all. http://http://www.theaustralian.news...rom=public_rss The only B******T here is some people who are in denial of the truth. :ugh: |
and .. of course, everything written in the newspaper (yes - even the Australian), is true!
|
I do not believe all that is written is true and unbiased. As a discerning, thinking adult I am(and assume you are too) able to apply some objectivity to all press releases.
Rather than shoot others(in a written sense) from expressing an opinion how about backing your argument with a few tangible arguments rather than gut feeling and hearsay. Have a nice day. Oooroo |
and .. of course, everything written in the newspaper (yes - even the Australian), is true Take a careful read yourself. The article is directly quoting words from Mr Godfrey himself, and not making anything up. :ooh: Take careful note of the following points in the article : ....chief executive Brett Godfrey revealed yesterday.....Mr Godfrey told...... Now how can this be B******T ? |

agree with angle of attack, although to be fair some CC in these forums have made some astute comments and a few are very bright people. VB is a great LCC and hopefully its 'back to basics strategy' will affirm it with good yeild results. Although I fly for another and have some issues with the Virgin Group's model, - a good mate from GA days got the right hand seat on a VB 73 about a year or so back and is absolutely loving it - End of the day there's always lots of opinions - but remember it's yours that counts most! Yep better response here as cabin crew don't venture into this part of the forum as they have no idea what general aviation is.
I think VB's New World carrier strategy is working. They are taking pax off qf and get most pax that don't want to go thru the cryptic fees and games turnout that you get with true LCC's. I know for me that I couldn't be bothered with it for the sake of a few bucks so VB is a good in between. |
Nice red herring angle of dangle, hair tags and floppy hat but no, this has not been hijacked by non relevant posters.
Good luck |
