Hugh, if you dare me and if the mods will allow I may be able to find a photo of the famous football team. You may even be in the photo which was taken on the North Ryde Helipad in the early eighties!

Arnold E 21st Mar 2009 13:00

Go on Dick, I dare ya. I'd like to see that photo

tinpis 21st Mar 2009 22:14

Many Happy returns Dick
I remember this one, I think you were trying to muscle in on Birds Eye?

Hugh Jarse 21st Mar 2009 22:18

That was the "iceberg incident" wasn't it, Tinpis?:}

Dick, please put the photo up. I double dare you! (Now I know you will).

I guarantee there will be lots of "bad 80's hair" for all to see :E:8

I will try and locate the photo- may take a while!

Fantome 23rd Mar 2009 00:16

Did you track down pics of Bowylie in the Osborne's days or gliding club activities?

Hugh Jarse 23rd Mar 2009 03:50

HAHHA! I was right about the hair! Might have been before my time, but I recognise Neil Goulter (with ball), Ray Richards(Warehouse MGR?) Top left (no taste in motorcycles).

Is that a "young" Rex Callaghan front left?:E

Crikey! that photo disappeared as fast as it appeared!:8

Dick Smith 23rd Mar 2009 03:52

Tinpis, that is a historic photo. It is actually of the iceberg cruising past the Opera House just before it became apparent that it was an April Fools Day joke!

Hugh, here is the photo. However I can’t see anyone with a huge…. so it may have been before or after your time – then again, maybe you don’t want to be discovered!

http://www.dicksmithflyer.com.au/downloads/picture.jpg

To the moderators, this actually has an aviation link. Even though the photo was not taken on the North Ryde helipad, the airspace in the top quarter of the picture is future ADS-B airspace.

Dick Smith 23rd Mar 2009 04:35

Hugh, a friend of mine has just spoken to Rian Lane, who was team Captain when the photograph was taken. Rian says that you weren’t on the team at that time. Sorry!

Buster Hyman 23rd Mar 2009 06:41

That's more Dick than I care to see right now....

hoss 23rd Mar 2009 07:10

hey dick the wife likes the cereal too, just got back after a few days away and its all gone, i only got one go.

Hugh Jarse 23rd Mar 2009 08:04

That was before my time, Dick. My hair was much bigger :} and I'm sure the jerseys were yellow with the silhouette during my tenure. I'm surprised Rian is still with us :}

I recognise a few more of the ugly moosh's, but alas, can't remember the names.

Probably a result of CRAFT: Can't Remember a F&^*ing Thing.....

Buster, those shorts were great, because you could get away with it back then, and without needing rolled up socks for enhancement purposes! :8

Neil (Back row with ball) was known as "the drover's dog" (all Pr!ck and ribs). He was actually a part time muso and had a similar (but better IMHO) voice than Shane Howard from Goanna. This was around the time of their debut album.

Towering Q 23rd Mar 2009 08:14

Not a very "Dick relevant" post, Fantome. Probably better suited to the More Photos thread.

I don't suppose you have a link to the Narrabeen Beach photo, it's a great shot.:ok:

Fantome 23rd Mar 2009 09:37

Here it is T Q - Panoramic Landscape Photography - Sydney City, Northern Beaches Photos, Sydney Photos, Bondi Photos

My post was pulled for reasons mysterfying. All I was trying to imply was that to say that the future category of airspace over the ground in the photo of Dick's eleven is justification for a post is no more or less sensible than to say a recent photo of Narrabeen Beach where the first heavier than air flight in Australia took place on the 5th December 1909 is a reason enough to mention here the support needed for the valiant efforts of The Australian Gliding Museum in their working towards commemorating that historic flight. (Maybe the mod. concerned would be good enough to look again, and if not put it back here, put it in History and Nostalgia.)

Barkly1992 23rd Mar 2009 11:10

Dick

I had John (AMATS) and Brenda around for dinner on Saturday night. Up from Melb. a great catchup and many CAA and other stories were told.

And John said to tell you 'happy birthday'.

:ok:
