Flight Instructors pay

if one was to get flying school operations on onces AOC what is the goingrate for a grade 1 instructor.....

I hear some flying schools in Sydney pay the instructors an hourly rate for when they are flying. eg, no fly no pay. is that common?

for c-category instructors in NZ thats pretty common. b-cats usually go on a salary I think.

Used to be very common. In the last two years, most companies have migrated to salaries for their staff.

G'day Biz

We charge $90 per instructor hour and our G1 instructors are paid $37 per flying hour...

.... on top of a retainer of about $45k, which means the CFI is on about $90k, G1s about $75k, G3 about $45k. There again, instruction is more a hobby for us and we each do about 700 hours pa of "other" flying.

Why would you add a Flying school to your AOC?

Ask yourself this: Can your staff offer something special, something "over and above" to the flying students out there or are you going to be just another business milking the aviation consumer?

There are plenty of schools filling the second category :=
