Another business chucked off archerfield

The big fella has done it again.

The cafeteria operator at AF has been told ...NO LEASE RENEWAL.
Go by christmas.

He is very upset.

Ixixly 17th Nov 2008 09:10

Which one mate?

Grogmonster 17th Nov 2008 09:29

OPS Normal

While I am shocked at the news I can't say I am surprised. Chand is a really nice guy and works very hard to feed everyone. I wonder where all the AF workers are going to eat now? Not that the management would give a toss. Another nail in the coffin. They will eventually get rid of us all. Let your local member know how you feel.

megle2 17th Nov 2008 10:38

Grog

I hope that " nail in the coffin " didn't come from the cemetry right next to the cafe!!

Jabawocky 17th Nov 2008 11:10

Funny trend emerging...... except it is not so funny!

YSBK and YBAF...... how about the others?

puff 17th Nov 2008 11:28

Archerfield Industrial Park will be a lot more successful once they get rid of those pesky runways and related aviation applied to the area!

rioncentu 17th Nov 2008 20:14

Welcome to Rockhampton Airport

They love GA there.

NOT !!!

GA are treated like scum.

Rich-Fine-Green 17th Nov 2008 22:56

I heard AAC may have done this once before.

There is added value for AAC in the YBAF Cafe:

1. AAC can now sell the Cafe rights as a 'Business' to a new punter. Immediate $50k-$100k income.

2. AAC can get the lease income from the above business.

After 3-5 years, when the Cafe is running sweet, the AAC can do the same again.

Correct me if i'm wrong as I heard this 3rd hand.

Max Dover 18th Nov 2008 00:01

Maybe the Big Fella will help his side-kick - GC into the business.
Sorry wrong - he won't be doing that as he is now going to be the next CASA Area Manager for Northern Australia!
Believe it or not!:yuk:

Up until now it would appear that affected business operators at places like Archerfield and Bankstown have been poorly represented and uncoordinated in their fight against the developers whose motto of success is "divide and conquer".

Until they (businesses) orgainise themselves into effective lobby groups and put their hands in their pockets to pay for professional advice and representation they are going to continually be walked over. We've seen too many people sit on the fence until it was they that have had leases terminated or other acts of bastardry committed against them before they got off their backsides to join the fight. To date, GA owes it's survival to a very dedicated few who have taken develpers on and won. It can be done but whingeing on anonymous forums is not going to make an ounce of difference.

The Archerfield operators were organised and co-ordinated.Their bid for the development of the airport site was undermined by graft and corruption. The people making the decision had absolutely no interest in aviation and were bought.

CHAIRMAN 18th Nov 2008 10:37

Bloody Guvmint - I've been going to that 'cafe' for over 40 years!! It's time to hold them accountable for selling off the assets us aviators and taxpayers paid for:ugh:
I reckon the gummint needs to read the 'fine print' really closely and hold the purchasers to the letter of their lease!!

Aerohooligan 18th Nov 2008 11:15

That's awful. I eat there every other day. 'Greasy Spoon' it may be, but we all love it.

F***ing AAC.

sms777 18th Nov 2008 11:33

Guvmint?... what fricking guvmint. The latest so called P minstress is too fricking busy travelling the world sucking up to Mr has been Bush rather than worrying about the country he has been elected to run ( i did not vote for him, but all you suckers did).
In the mean time the country is falling apart and do you really think any one gives a ****?

On top of that there is a black fellow is about to save the world!

( i am going to Siberia for this )

YPJT 18th Nov 2008 22:19

mates rates, just because a proposal for development was not given to them is no reason to drop the ball and give up. Same thing happened here at JT where a sound proposal by a consortium of the operators was defeated purely on the bottom line $ value to the government. However the current leaseholders have been beaten at just about every turn since. I don't think I need remind anyone of the proposed Jandakot Aiport relocation debacle.

If you want to get your local pollie to take notice, perhaps this page might be of some use. LETTER OF A POLITICIAN

Good luck and don't let the b@st@rds win!

dude65 19th Nov 2008 08:34

This has me a bit confused.

Can someone explain why the AAC would kick these little guys out when there are a lot bigger fish to fry so to speak?

It makes no sense at all. I would have thought if they were kicking out tenants, these guys would be the last to go

TBM-Legend 19th Nov 2008 09:45

GB used a technicality in the lease to say he missed the renewal date by a few days..

The CEO Gerard I hear is now off to CASA! I hear as Nth Region Mgr????:suspect:

PlankBlender 19th Nov 2008 10:10

Anyone care to shed light on this apparent contradiction?

Doesn't sound like the typical housing/industrial developer driven airport corp!?

AAC is a family owned and operated business committed to the long-term success of the Airport as a significant aviation facility serving south-east Queensland. This commitment has been realised through the AAC's contribution to various developments on the Airport in the past 10 years.

Vision: Archerfield Airport Corporation strives to nurture the dynamic potential of Archerfield as a superior aviation destination

Achievements by the AAC
  • Capital expenditure for major aviation related activities exceeds $3.5 Million
  • Non-aviation development capital expenditure has totalled $2.28M
  • Major maintenance works exceeding $500,000
  • Ongoing grounds and building maintenance costs are in excess of $1.34 Million

Looking towards the future

A $3 Million hangar complex capable of accommodating corporate aircraft has been funded by AAC

Long-term vision for the AAC

AAC has a long-term commitment to Archerfield Airport and will continue to develop a balance of commercial and aviation related businesses for the airfield's long-term financial sustainability.

It will continue to encourage Maintenance, Flight Training, Charter and Aircraft Retail businesses existing on the airfield and begin to attract and encourage corporate aircraft and small RPT operations into Archerfield.

Whilst doing this, the AAC will endeavour to remain conscientious to its community and environmental responsibilities.
from Developments

CHAIRMAN 19th Nov 2008 11:49

no apparent contradiction there at all
'a $3 Million hangar complex capable of accomodating corporate aircraft has been funded by AAC'
Maybe next years episode will see an additional missive:
'a $1 Million cafeteria complex capable of being leased out to the highest bidder has been funded by AAC'
Let me know when the last chip is going into the last vat of hot fat!
