The cafeteria operator at AF has been told ...NO LEASE RENEWAL.
Go by christmas.

He is very upset.

While I am shocked at the news I can't say I am surprised. Chand is a really nice guy and works very hard to feed everyone. I wonder where all the AF workers are going to eat now? Not that the management would give a toss. Another nail in the coffin. They will eventually get rid of us all. Let your local member know how you feel.

I heard AAC may have done this once before.

There is added value for AAC in the YBAF Cafe:

1. AAC can now sell the Cafe rights as a 'Business' to a new punter. Immediate $50k-$100k income.

2. AAC can get the lease income from the above business.

After 3-5 years, when the Cafe is running sweet, the AAC can do the same again.

Correct me if i'm wrong as I heard this 3rd hand.

Maybe the Big Fella will help his side-kick - GC into the business.
Sorry wrong - he won't be doing that as he is now going to be the next CASA Area Manager for Northern Australia!

Up until now it would appear that affected business operators at places like Archerfield and Bankstown have been poorly represented and uncoordinated in their fight against the developers whose motto of success is "divide and conquer".

Until they (businesses) orgainise themselves into effective lobby groups and put their hands in their pockets to pay for professional advice and representation they are going to continually be walked over. We've seen too many people sit on the fence until it was they that have had leases terminated or other acts of bastardry committed against them before they got off their backsides to join the fight. To date, GA owes it's survival to a very dedicated few who have taken develpers on and won. It can be done but whingeing on anonymous forums is not going to make an ounce of difference.

The Archerfield operators were organised and co-ordinated.Their bid for the development of the airport site was undermined by graft and corruption.The people making the decision had absolutely no interest in aviation and were bought.

Bloody Guvmint - I've been going to that 'cafe' for over 40 years!! It's time to hold them accountable for selling off the assets us aviators and taxpayers paid for:ugh:
I reckon the gummint needs to read the 'fine print' really closely and hold the purchasers to the letter of their lease!!

mates rates, just because a proposal for development was not given to them is no reason to drop the ball and give up. Same thing happened here at JT where a sound proposal by a consortium of the operators was defeated purely on the bottom line $ value to the government. However the current leaseholders have been beaten at just about every turn since. I don't think I need remind anyone of the proposed Jandakot Aiport relocation debacle.

Can someone explain why the AAC would kick these little guys out when there are a lot bigger fish to fry so to speak?

GB used a technicality in the lease to say he missed the renewal date by a few days..:sad:
