Class 1 medical costs

I did my class 1 medical recently and the cost, I consider a little steep..

$370 for a class 1 renewal (only addition lung function and ecg) seems a bit of a rip..

Is it me or am I backing up to the pineapple...

NO CASA fees included in that $370

DanArcher 11th Nov 2008 18:39

Sounds a bit steep, just did an inital issue in sydney for $260 + $80ish in casa fees

gadude 11th Nov 2008 18:41

WHat are you going to do about it?
I have enough off these expensive medicals and just not going to do one next time. I am not going to suport some rich docter and make him richer.
stuff it. lol

It is not to cheap i think, but could be a lot worse. Years ago i had a bad accident, and suffered a bit off a brushed head.
To have it sorted out by some specialist to clear me to fly again costed me 750 dollar.his hourly rate that was. (just to talk and do tests with this guy, and that was 2 years after the accident) anyway he cleared me so i supose it was worth it. still had to do the rest off the normal medical.

I went to see a CASA docter in auckland last time, that only costed me 150 for the visit. plus the beloved CASA fees.
Maybe shop around a bit next time?

cheers:ok:

Mostly they have standard fees - just ask before you go.

Did my last 1 at Dural and it set me back $200

either way i'm screwed....just inquiring to what the norm would/should be..

"bent over and taking the pineapple"

Sounds like you were paying him $750 per hour to bribe him for a pass :E

How did you go on your ICAO level 4 English Test?

Stirring :ok:

The_Pharoah 12th Nov 2008 08:26

going for my class 1 med tomorrow (brisbane) - total cost $200 (incl ECG, doctor interview, audiogram, etc). Bywater Medical with the testing done at Canossa Private hospital. :ok: (Dr Greg Norman's the name - no, not the golfer). He's ex RAAF.

Funny they never did my English test. Just as well, as right after the accident i lost about half off my english, and used to switch to my native lingo without noticing that, caused for great frustration with the girlfiend:ugh:

The bloke who did those test called himself a neurocyciratist or someting like that.

Ah well at least i have an excuse :ok:

Its unreal hey, 750 an hour. I have to work whole day for that. lol

mustafagander 12th Nov 2008 09:37

I see a DAME in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney. ECG, audio, lung test (that's the blow in the tube to keep the pen up type) and it comes to around $180.

$85 for opthamologist appointment which took 10mins

$75 for CASA processing fee

Pathetic!

sms777 14th Nov 2008 05:57

The initial issue of a class1 medical today costs around $750.

So... stop your whining you lot! :ugh:

The_Pharoah 14th Nov 2008 09:04

well I'm getting my initial - $205 for everything except opthamologist which is $220 (Bris) + CASA fee.

Where the hell did you get that from?

Mine was an initial done 2-3 weeks ago and only was 250ish

sms777 18th Nov 2008 08:26

That hell is called Sydney. :=
Now...i know it is an expensive place to live in but considering your class one is issued by CASA which is a goverment body with fees not negotiable, therefore after their fee of $150, damn sure you got a bargain.
Do not expect me to fly with you though because the rest of it sounds like a cheap bribe!

Track5milefinal 18th Nov 2008 09:45

I thought $85 was a ripoff for my 15 minute Opthalmologist appointment!
