...another Defence fiasco?
talking yesterday to a senior Army officer and it seems that the new MRH-90 frog chopper doesn't meet the tendered specs due to weight with all the extra gear put on it vs. a "standard" aircraft. They are talking about limitations 'hot/high' that even the Black Hawk doesn't have....another billion $$$$ govt f#@Kup...

is there any pusser or birdie on here from 817 sqn who would know how this would effect navy ops?? Are the navy being kept in the loop??
|
I should take him entirely at his word. It's a well known fact, at least up here, that the Army is the expert on anything rotary or floatary. :ok:
|
Like all these deals lately, the 'chosen one' is more often the one that attracts the industrial content not the operational efficiency and the outcome is massaged to give the correct answer. AAAvn wanted the Mike Black Hawk identical to US Army,,,Navy would have taken Sierra model Seahawks - good enough for Uncle Sam but not us..
|
MRH would have been okay for the pussers (albeit with auto blade-fold), but MRH for army is a bit or a lame duck - the bloody antennas on the belly of the thing are only a couple of inches off the ground. On concrete. Unladen. And that's just the surface!

But I'm sure once our politcal masters and DMO weave their magic everything will be just fine.......really........:}
Bring back the Huey!!!:ok: |
