Experimental Category Equivalent in NZ
Hi All,
Some a/c in the US such as ex mil don't have a standard category certificate but can be flown under experimental/exhibition category with some fairly significant restrictions. Does anyone know what the situation is in NZ for such aircraft? The case I am thinking of is OH-58A helicopters (military version of B206). If one was able to import one into NZ what options are available to register and fly it and what would the maintenance schedule be? Cheers, JohnO |
Not sure myself about the Limited / Experemintal categories in NZ - but contact the boys and girls here NZFPM |Home and here Warbirds Over Wanaka International Airshow 2008 and you should get a happy answer.

Shouldn't be problem, there's been many examples of ex-military helicopters and fixed wing being imported to NZ and almost all of them operated under the experimental category.
Examples have been :- wessex & scout choppers and ex-RAF Bulldog plane S2K |
I'm not 100% sure but I think there is / was one of these heil's already flying in NZ, and has been here for a number of years. I have the feeling it was owned by one of the boss's in Airwork? I could be barking up the wrong tree, however :-)
