RAAF C-17 Tagged by taggers in NZ

According to this NZHerald Sideswipe article this amberley based C-17 transiting RNZAF whenuapai got Decorated last week.

This Australian Air Force C-17 transport plane parked at Whenuapai Air Base has apparently had some unwelcome attention. "It was parked overnight and it appears to have been tagged by some of the local youth," writes Andrew.

"Says a lot for our Air Force security."

Guess the stencil for the kiwi wasn't available due to funding cuts. Had to get in outside contractors that didn't follow programmed contract details exactly to the letter. "Tagging" was carried out as per normal contractor SOP:}:}:}

I like this one. Marc Ecko tags Air Force One. Watch the video and then the video about the video.

Pretty disrespectful to the Royal Australian Air Force...

I dont think the average tagger is really into the whole respect thing, regardless of who owns the property:E

Aussie plane defaced at Whenuapai

08/09/2008 14:12:36

The Air Force has made an embarrassing apology after an Australian C-17 transport planes was vandalised.

The Globemaster was parked at Whenuapai Air Base when it was tagged with a Nazi swastika last week.

The Air Force has admitted the security blunder after a photo of the jet appeared in the New Zealand Herald.

Squadron Leader Glenn Davis says it is clear the level of security at the base is not up-to-date and a review is underway. He says police are taking the incident very seriously.

Was the security blunder about the tagging, or that the paper was able to get a photo of it?

neville_nobody 8th Sep 2008 06:38

Or maybe it's an excuse to get funding to upgrade the security at the airport.

How did the artists get over the 3ft high boundary fence?
They prob didn't have to climb over the fence.... they prob just walked through the main gate where the rent-a-cop security officer was snoozing in his lazy boy after too many pies....

Been a while since I lived at Whenuapai, but the Westie kids were just as capable with a spray can.

And they live just down the road.

Hmm, well it is'nt the first time an ADF aircraft has been 'graffittied' by the Kiwis.:eek::E

This was on the fuselage of an ADF Nomad which I saw at Kerema, in the Gulf province of PNG, back in 1990.

A bit unkind I would have thought!:=
