Flight Simulator Experience at Q1: B737-800

G'day fello Pilots,

If your in the mood for some bangers on sangers and want to check out our state of the art 737 800 NG simulator, rock on down to the Q1 building at Surfers Paradise on the 14th of Sept 2008.

We are supporting Careflight, raising money for their much needed services that they provide to our community, they perform rescue of all sorts and need big dollars to keep their chopper and crew in the air.

We would greatly appreciate your support and will be raffling a free half hour flight in our simulator, many other give aways may also be available.

So if you're the budding 737 captian type who believes they have what it takes to land an 80 tone sofisticated aircraft, just cruise on in and try your hand at some ILS or a few laps around the old Kai Tak.

Everyone is welcome.....look forward to seeing you there....

80 tone sofisticated

Yeah because flightsim comes with the addon Kai Tak package, full 737 cockpit with all controls, seats, gauges etc and the flightsim pack also supports a local charity as well!!! Don't know how they fit it all into the DVD pack!

Will you pay my Duty Time Allowance if I come? :E

Seriously.. good luck with raising the cash for Careflight. Sounds like a good way to raise some dosh for a worthy cause... I'd be there... but bit hard to get to Surfers from NZ...

BTW 66 tons is MLW in the 800 :ok: :)

Well actually, you can get your flight sim to do all that. Just not the charity bit!

On a serious note, great idea to raise money, for a great group of blokes :ok:

Yeah you can buy Kai Tak and a full cockpit but it's probably not economical. Wonder what it would cost to build it? Ten's of thousands?

mr.tos 2nd Sep 2008 09:33

It can be done, but definitely not economical. Unless you have more money then sense! A mate I used to fly with had a home built sim. Try googling or youtubing "home built flight simulators", there not cheap :}

Ive flown it and its ****e..........But I know that all the eager young spotters / aerosexuals would think its the horniest thing in the world.

As i was strapping in, first thing I noticed was no stick shaker - thought to myself "this wont be any fun!".................

Cypher 3rd Sep 2008 07:10

Jeezeee.. I was just wondering what was wrong with the world... :rolleyes:

I got to do it in Christchurch last year, great experience and would do it again but im not sure they is much gained from it without knowing all the systems etc. it is just plodding around the skies with a guy next to you doing the work.

It's all about the 4 bars...:ugh::rolleyes:

vee1-rotate 3rd Sep 2008 11:14

waste of cash....

basically a homebuilt sim running FS2004, and charging $275 an hour for the privelage.

I'm all for a good cause though, so good luck with the charity day!

There's also a Flight Experience down here in Melbourne at the Queen Victoria building in the CBD.

Sure, it's not as good as a full motion, fully rated sim like they have at QF and such, but it's a frak of a lot cheaper :)

For those of you who'd rather just fire up Flight Sim, sure, go for it, but it still looks like your desktop to me. At least the FE sims have all the buttons, controls and so on (well, most of them).

It's fun and worth a try.
