Charleville Airport

I was passing through Charleville earlier this week and would just like to mention that it was a pleasure to have stopped their.

A lovely gentleman at the south west air base told me the wind direction when I was inbound, he waved me in to the fuel bowser, grabbed my Carnet and did the fuel, assisted us in getting a lift in to town and accommodation, all of which I was very thankful for, especially after an eight hour flight.

Also the facilities there were very impressive, grass nicely mowed, clean, no rubbish, well presented club house with a nice cafe and decked area, and the free internet and printing services was wonderful.

For those of you who have been there I am sure you feel the same way, It is the best Regional Airfield in terms of facilities and services I have been to.

And for those of you who haven't been that way, I would suggest a stop, even if it is only for a cuppa.

Anyway just my opinion. Thanks YBCV for the experience!!

The 'bloke' was also only too happy to organise transport for me and a few other pilots when we stopped by YBCV last year.

If only there were more airports with this sort of set up and friendliness.

I'm just sorry I can't remember his name.

:ok:

Jaba, I think it would have been the owner of the 185, he only arrived down south on Thursday.

Nickname rhymes with Macker, & yes he is a top bloke! ;)

Good to see that old fashioned airport hospitality still exists.

It's good to know that our efforts are appreciated at Charleville. It's a service we enjoy providing.

I have been a regular to YBCV, and must agree, they have been like that for as long as I have been going there! Very helpful bunch and the A/C'd shop/clubhouse is the most welcome building on a hot QLD day!

DF,
currently holed up in YPAG awaiting arrival of 35/45 knot winds after passage of cold front.
The roo survey has been very smooth flying up to date, which is unusual for SA.
As Wadey says, thanks for the kind words about YBCV.

Struth - the wind here today was strong enough to blow a ruddy dog off the chain! You definitely would have had to tie the old girl down if you were still here, otherwise she might have got frisky & tried to mate with the Reims or the Cresco! ;)
