It's the actual wind measured at sugarloaf, on the top of the port hills. Just like the Kaukau wind in Wellington. :ok:

..and now from Swampy down Dunners way too.

Sugarloaf is named for the famous meal that Young GA pilots brew up for dinner, made from the sweepings off the hangar floor..1 cup of sugar, and the last 20ml of long life milk out of the aeroclub fridge..all baked in an oil pan for 1 hour at 180 degrees. Kept many a young instructor alive over a Canterbury winter!!

Thank you all!

The sugarloaf is a main navigation VFR point between Mt Hagen to Mendi or Tari for some us old PNG chaps .. eh Torres :ok:

Topo map shows trig point at Sugarloaf as 496m. From memory, that trig is on a craggy outcrop just behind the tower. That being the case, the anemometer will be at or about that height, possibly on the tower at about 500m AMSL.
Now, where's me calculator? (hurrah for metrication - NOT!) Le Vieux |
