767 trailing on APP
G'day all,
Saw a QF 76 trailing what appeared to be smoke from eng. 2 on app to 16R at Sydney this afternoon. Def wasn't condensation.. so I am guessing it was from the oil breather. Any info? Cheers |
I heard QF925 from cairns report problem with one engine to atc on sy approach 124.400. He was given direct clearance for the ILS 16R, as all other inbounds were getting 25, and he stated that he didnt require emergency services or the like after atc asked him.
So this appears to be it. Something he said about when he increased thrust, on the engine they got warnings, iirc. Matt |
Thanks for that.:ok:
Standing by for pax reports of 'fearing for their lives' etc.. |
Gents
I believe the QANTAS engineers said that the cause of the incident was oil leaking onto hot engine exhaust after suspected bearing failure in starboard engine. Cheers |
engine shutdown
:D:Dwas hearing incident on radio and fire commander told a/c captain to shutdown engine which he did and then fire commander then inspected engine and told captain smoke was disappating.Fire commander then told captain not to do an emergency evac and a/c taxied to bay? closely followed by fire trucks. It broke up a somewhat boring day with a little bit of excitement

Stall Margin, don't mean to be picky, but No One, tell's the Captain of an aircraft, what to do with the aircraft that he is in Command of, especially when it concerns safety.
Better words might have been "The Fire Chief advised the Captain that an evacuation need not be nessecary". :ok: morno |
