pings 21st Feb 2008 10:11

Emailed me last Monday. Aircraft type, base, and start date will be notified late february.

PoleDriver 22nd Feb 2008 02:56

...email also said the expected start date not before August. Wish they would hurry up and hand out offers, the HR dept must be overloaded. Anyone know why so long....offers last year went out a lot quicker, maybe the jungle jet? I was told 50/50 as to type which doesn't help:rolleyes:

3dimsims 22nd Feb 2008 09:18

...and guys how long ago did you all apply before you got notified for an interview??

PoleDriver 22nd Feb 2008 22:41

I applied 2005, but it probably bears little relevance now given the heady highs of recruitment;)

lowlite 23rd Feb 2008 05:24

Does anyone know if anyone has missed out after thier interview in the last six months or so?

machrider 6th Mar 2008 07:21

anyone heard from them yet?

ditto, any1 heard? I heard phone calls may be out by the end of this week. I want to know!:P

forgetabowdit 6th Mar 2008 12:15

Heard today that next major interviewing will not be until June / July this year... Also heard that 73 recruitment will continue steadily but the numbers will slow significantly as the e jet ramps up recruitment to meet its crewing needs - that is assuming of course that they get people to fly it on the current package... I know a few that are planning to interview to see if they are to be offered the 73 and if not will persue qf/cx or jq...

jay700 6th Mar 2008 15:02

Still waiting very patiently. :ugh:

tipan13 7th Mar 2008 00:13

I is taking for ever.........the longer I wait the more Jungle Jet nightmares I seem to have!!!!!
I hope they call today:ugh:

tipan13 10th Mar 2008 04:45

Has anyone got an offer yet?

Close to 8 weeks since interview and no start date, base etc....
Is it common to wait this long?

jay700 10th Mar 2008 05:15

I interviewed late January, Got an e-mail approximately 2 weeks later saying I was successful. However still no word on start date, aircraft, base etc. :hmm:

tipan13 10th Mar 2008 05:19

Yeah got the same email....
I cant understand why it is taking so long to get back to us!!!!!
Did they give you any idea as to when they would get back to you?

questil 10th Mar 2008 06:14

know of 2 guys that were interviewed in oct and were given the 737
one has been told july and the other aug with actual dates of courses given 3 months prior. recruitment has slowed down

I have a mate who got confirmation he was accepted back in Late August / September & he's over in Melbourne doing the 737 endorsement right now.

jay700 10th Mar 2008 17:39

Tipan,
I probably got the same e-mail as you did. All they really said was not to expect the official letter of offer before the end of Feb and class date would be after August.

jay700 10th Mar 2008 17:50

As for some tips on the interview…. be yourself and be relaxed. Know your climb gradients from the CAO’s, ETOPS and high speed aerodynamics including winglets. Make sure you are proficient with NDB intercepts into a hold.

PoleDriver 11th Mar 2008 02:12

could it be the HR/recruiting dept are struggling or understaffed to keep pace with the current recruitment drive. I'm just on 7 weeks since interview - it's a bit stressful remaining in limbo, and I won't stop pacing until I've signed something....Hurry up and wait! At least we have the warm fuzzy feeling of being in the same boat:ugh:

as for tips on the interview, what has been said in posts dating back last year still hold true, no new surprises, all quite relaxed and friendly process:ok:

tipan13 11th Mar 2008 02:56

In this environment they should really get the offers out ASAP!!!!!!
I have heard of 3 people taking other positions since their interviews simply because they had no official offer:=

aero979 11th Mar 2008 06:48

vb

has anyone called them? the email said if we had any questions...

tipan13 11th Mar 2008 09:46

Yep Called on the 3rd of March........said they had not worked it all out yet.
If more people call we may get an answer sooner!!!!!!!!

PoleDriver 11th Mar 2008 11:31

...I rang 29 Feb, ditto tipan

PoleDriver 13th Mar 2008 12:32

I will stop pacing now - I got a call today from recruiting, my endorsement is pencilled in for late April (737) official offer to be posted shortly:ok: I presume other phone calls are imminent...has anyone else heard? Good luck, hope to see you at the sim!

tipan13 13th Mar 2008 12:38

Yeah got the call.....737 so no more ground schools for this man!!!!!
No Base yet

Mr Cat 13th Mar 2008 23:07

Poledriver and Tinpan13

Do you mind if I ask your GA backgrounds and TT's inc. multi command ??? Just trying to firure out what they realistically want..........

Cheers guys....:)

tipan13 14th Mar 2008 00:47

Mr Cat :

3100 TT
GA Background
1800 Multi Pic
1200 turbine
600 Jet

But I would not worry to much I have friends that have got in with 1800 tt 100 turbine
Good luck

PoleDriver 14th Mar 2008 04:52

Mr Cat - 6900TT, 4000 turboP mostly single pilot, nil jet, all GA! I know of guys getting in with little over min. reqt's, to 10,000hr+....I think it is irrelevant almost these days so long as you meet min reqt's.:ok:

Cheers leffe, I would be on the blower if I was you! They also said my start date is Jun/Jul. Are you already 737 end?

Tipan - congrats, no more 'embraer nightmares' for you!:E

city8flyer 14th Mar 2008 14:13

Hi guys, just wondering........ which cities does Virgin have pilot bases?

Cheers

The Hill 14th Mar 2008 18:54

i believe its Sydney, Mebourne and Brissy... not sure about embraer? anyone wish to confirm??

ccysam 16th Mar 2008 06:37

Dj has 3 bases. BN-SY-ML. All are 737 and Ejet bases. If you want a quick command and you have a choice, go for the SY base. No one wants to move there.

Give it a couple of years. He'll be as tired and cynical as the rest of us! :}

ccysam 16th Mar 2008 09:00

Only if you let yourself Capt. F..... I've seen the worst and best in the last 25 years and I still love my job.

The Bunglerat 16th Mar 2008 11:05

...And even if/when the cynicism does set in, well I'd rather be a cynical old fart flying decent equipment than a cynical old fart flying clapped-out bugsmashers.
