QF CC LH..Something's Burning

Of late there has been some "chatter"regarding QF LH.
Something is going on in LHR
Noise about a YVR base
A vibe around QCC1
Something most of us have learnt about "chatter"is that it usually has some origin and substance and it usually occurs about two months out from an event.
So we will know around April.

SocialFlyer 21st Feb 2008 03:27

DEFKON4,

What going on with LHR base? What do you suspect could be on the boil?

What does QCC1 stand for? Is that a positive vibe?

DEFCON4 21st Feb 2008 04:04

QCC1

QCC1 means Qantas Building C level 1.
Have a mate on the LHR base..somethings cooking up there but he is not sure what.
The vibe on QCC1 is a little odd..which usually means not good

mrpaxing 21st Feb 2008 05:25

the sooner

they close the LHR base they better.

QF CC Outsourcing

The QCCA vehicle could encompass all CC.
What is to stop Qantas from setting CC up as a stand alone business?
If it does this what are the ramifications foe existing A scale CC?

speedbirdhouse 21st Feb 2008 12:06

What can they do?

Force existing Longhaul CC to work for less just because they want them to despite the fact that they have just signed a 5 year agreement??

I don't think so.

Force us on to AWAs? Thanks to the Rudd Labor Government that nasty little industrial tool no longer exists.

Qantas has just reported a doubling of profit for the first six months with scrotum face himself saying on "lateline business" that the company is well placed.

Not even QF are dumb enough to upset the apple cart especially given all the good press they'll be looking for with the upcoming A380 role out.

Good press and Qantas? Now there's a concept!!

I wonder if our senior executives have considered it ...............?

cartexchange 21st Feb 2008 20:29

I'd rather the obliterate the AKL base! now that would be good news

speedbirdhouse 21st Feb 2008 21:02

I will not do AKL-LAXs for the very same reason.

Who needs the grief..........?

Shazz-zaam 21st Feb 2008 22:15

Kia ora,

What do ya mean Bro? ay? Even better in March when the scarebus will be on AKL/LAX. :yuk:

Jetsetter00 21st Feb 2008 22:20

Hey guys,

Whats the problem with the AKL - LAX route.. Just for those non long haulers, curious to be in the know.

funbags 21st Feb 2008 23:10

The arrogance of Syd based LHCC continues to astound. With comments like,

"the sooner
they close the LHR base they better." and

"I'd rather the obliterate the AKL base! now that would be good news" and

"I will not do AKL-LAXs for the very same reason.

Who needs the grief..........?"

You guys think that you are the only one's that are capable of doing the job and everybody else is sub standard. Where did you get this "high and mighty attitude". Too many years in the job, that's where. I think it's about time you crusty old types took VR, and let some new people breathe a breath of fresh air into Syd LHCC.

uniforms is closes on certain dates for recruits to be fitted out in uniforms does this add to any rumours

twiggs 22nd Feb 2008 01:12

There certainly is a vibe, but I put it down to the massive recruitment and promotions that are occurring.

lovelondon 22nd Feb 2008 03:06

Jetsetter there is no problem with the AKL LAX route. Some Aust based crew are unhappy with a few things such as having to work with AKL crew or that our union has granted a dipensation to allow Qantas to operate the route using A330 aircraft which does not have horizontal crew rest only 4 curtained crew rest seats in the economy cabin in front of the toilets.

Normally our EBA has a provision for longer sectors that crew must be provided with a horizontal crew rest where you can actually lie down to sleep. The FAAA has granted a dipensation for this particular route and also SYD BOM .

Dont believe all the bad things people go on about with regards to AKL based crew .Like any large work force there are always a small percentage of employees who are somehow still employed and shouldnt be. Some are from AKL and I haved worked with others from SYD MEL as well.
Just because one former AKL flight attendant entertained Ralph Fiennes in the loo to BOM doesnt mean everyone from that base is bad.

I am not a fan of crew based offshore simply because it isnt fair that 2 people doing the same job can be paid such different amounts. But I am not about to bag my Kiwi colleagues and demand the AKL base be closed . Not thrilled about doing long sectors without horizontal rest either but I believe an airline should be allowed to use whatever aircraft it has available,on whatever route it wants.

PattyStacker 22nd Feb 2008 04:31

You will find she was a MAM casual went she knocked to the top off ralph Fiennes (MAMers did the BOM shuttles before they were returned to Long Haul). She was AKL previous to that.

mrpaxing 22nd Feb 2008 07:22
