217 check and training info

With the recent spate of advertisements for these positions, it would be nice to know:

Does any one know the procedure for attaining a CAR 217 Check and Training approval with an operator who only has B5700kg types?

What type of experience would be needed? Would a ME and IR training approval help with this application?

Is this usually self-sponsored?

Is there any where that specialises in training guys for this?

Thanks.

You attain CAR217 Check and Training approval when you're employer puts you into a Check and Training roll. No other way otherwise, ;).
