I have just come back from the E-JET course in singas. run by swiss aviation training. received all manuals on arrival in singas, ground school mainly by CBT requiring a few hours study each night. 5 days on 2 days off etc, but would recommend setting half a day on the 2 days off for review. sim program well set out with absolutely no tricks. from the program you can review the total sim session for the next day, including ports, sids, wx, failures, qrh etc. overall an enjoyable 6 weeks.

Thank you FOXMAN
May I hope that this does not get censored.
FOXMAN YOU ARE A BLOODY LEGEND! Myself and a few other E-Jet starterts have been quietly crappying ourselves about the Embraer course. Seeing that a mate of mine is about to do a 737 crash course in a clapped out old Ansett sim, it is good to realise that I think we got the better deal. How long was your Singa course? Anthing that we should read up on before we go? Cheers! |
For the training Captains it was six weeks. For new starts i would say 7-8 weeks, not sure but could ask for you. As for pre-study, don't worry, this is a high tech bit of gear but the systems are mainly automatic, much better than the 737. As long as you are not on the piss every night, and put a few hours in each night, you wont have a problem. The SOPs are very well thought out and easy to understand and the QRH is without doubt the best I've used.

Thanks for the info.
Vicki in the office told me on friday that the New Baby's are going to do more likely a nine week course!!!!! That's a lot of chocolate if I go to Zurich!!!! |
Back to the original question for a second, I was told by a guy this morning who just got on the Embraer that anyone with <500 multi-CREW experience wouldn't be considered for the Embraer...something to do with the 'training regime'. Apparently was told this in the interview.
Can anyone shed some some light on this? |
Yeah I was told the same thing in my interview. They asked if I had 500 multi crew, I assumed for the EMB requirements.
Has anyone heard if a Melbourne base will be offered on the EMB and if so what time frame Ang:) |
Yes,ML will be a base but when ?
|
Hey guys/gals,
I just had my VB interview and it all went quite well I thought. It was indeed like others have posted so there were really no surprises and I left feeling quite happy. Just have to wait for that phone call now! I have less that 500 multi crew....in fact NO multi crew experience so I assume I will be on the 737 if successful?? Will let you all know how I went in due course. Cheers. |
Yes with no experience I dare say you will be on the 737. Sort of sounds odd to me that by virtue of the fact that someone has more experince they are put on an aircraft paying less money....
|
I spoke to a guy last week (mid-way through B737 endorsement for VB) who's been flying B767's for umpteen years overseas. I'm also heavy-jet endorsed with multi-crew time as well. Therefore if lack of multi-crew time dictates that you go on the B737, I think we've just blown that theory out of the water.
Honestly, I think it's nothing more than HR looking at a pile of candidates for the month's interviews, and putting half in a box labelled "Boeing" and the other half in a box labelled "Embraer." |
Correct Bungle rat.
I just finished sniffing out some news from HR and depending on who reads your file controls wuch type you go on. No big deal really, at least we are all taking a step up. Oops .... sorry Bungle I know hoe much you will miss the 330!!!!!!! Relax. The 737 is just a big Chieftan Get excited/enjoy your course! |
...Yeah, well it took an inordinate amount of energy to rewire my brain to speak French. Now I have to unwire it again - just when I was getting good at it!:}
|
With regards to the emb course are they just doing them in Zurich and how much it costs ?, if so I assume you have to find your own way over there? and living expenses over there as well. Does anyone know if there is an ADL base planned for them?
Looks like an expensive 9 weeks Cheers |
Find your own way over, are you kidding, wouldn't somewhere closer to home be better, e.g. singas, unless slots booked in advance dictate numbers . I wonder how much this is all going to cost, throw in meals and accomodation. How will the cost compare to the guys and girls who do their endorsement in Aus when an Embraer sim arrives here, more senior do now but more out of pocket? :\
Just diverging for a moment, whilst doing some 737 research on previous threads found this under, "737 flaps for take off", 16th Oct 2006: from Dookie on D "for my operation typically ; 737 700 Flaps 30 737 800 Flaps 40 These configurations will change depending on any performance requirements", then yesterday says, "I have less than 500 multi crew...in fact no multi crew..." Good on you for your interview, hope you went well, but sorry I'm a little confused, please correct me if I'm wrong it has been a long day for me. |
Hi Spanwise Flow,
Yes I have no multi crew time however I used to work in "other" departments within an airline namely to do with Performance hence my post regarding flaps used for the B737. :) Sorry for the confusion! |
No worries, let us know how you go, what type and where.
By the way Ech I have replaced the carpet I wore out. |
hmmmm my referees have been called today....I take it this is good news? Wont know till the fat lady sings! :ok:
Will join the ranks of those pacing the floors :ugh: |
start date
Has anyone recieved any details regarding their EJet endorsements as yet ? Interested to see how the salary sacrifice works and who pays for what...
Ang :ugh: |
Relax. The 737 is just a big Chieftan |
Seeing that a mate of mine is about to do a 737 crash course in a clapped out old Ansett sim, |
Hey Centaurus,
Check your PM's...:ok: |
What Dictates Type Given
The original question posted was
What dictates type given????? I think I have figured it out. VB have chosen the biggest schmucks (me included) to go on the Embraer. That is those people who seem silly enough to pay there own way to Singa or Zurich for nine, yes that is nine weeks and then cough up 30K for the type rating aswell. With accom, flights, rating etc, that is 45k for the sheer enjoyment of flying a mere aeroplane. And salt into the wound. Embraer threw in type ratings as a sweetner for buying 24 aircraft. So who will be getting our 30K?????? Look forward to meeting you all on the ground school. That is if I am not bankrupt first. |
Sal,
I do believe you are very well misinformed! You may try getting the facts straight first. Also, if it is such a terrible deal that only schmucks would take then why are you going to take it? Ratter! |
So Salamundi - I assume you are not taking the job so wont actually be seeing the others in Zurich or Singapore?
And who has said that they have ordered 24 aeroplanes? |
Hey Ratter - long time......
I am happy to wear the schmuck hat. You know small sacrifice now for large gain etc......... Just think that after all these years, the bottomless pit would have ended!! My error indeed. No definately not mistaken. Rang recruitment today to clarify. PM me for the details if you wish. |
Check PM's Sal
|
Salamundi
Could you please explain what recruiting told you about paying for the endo etc - I think that having to pay for accom in a different country and pay for endo on a lower pay is outrageous. Tell me it is not so!!! |
I was told that salary sacrifice over one year was approved and that salary sacrifice over two years is being discussed at the moment.
I asked "Is it pay your own way?" referring to getting there and getting home and was told. "yes it is pay your own way but further information will be in the package we send you" i asked when I would get the package and the response - "soon" Sorry guys, I am just as confused as you. It took all my courage to call this morning and ask the difficult question. Don't shoot the messenger. Perhaps call them yourself and see what info you get. I think the info is changing on a daily basis. But that is what I was told 0915 this morning. |
Salmundi
Did you get an answer on your questions yet? What is your start date in Zurich? |
Just a guess but PIC time (on turboprops) may indicate someone with more initiative at remote airports where there is little support |
So who's off to Zurich for the JJ - when you start over there and what base did you get ?
Who got on the 737 - what base did you get :} |
