Red Bull Runway Markings

Ok gurus, I noticed these markings on the Langley Park runway at the Perth leg of the Red Bull Air Race.

Does anyone out there know what the "RB" signifies?

Cheers. :ok:

I heard that many of the pilots were too scared to use this field because of the turbulence caused by the trees at the end, except for the Poms; or I might have got that around the wrong way!

Good photo though - did someone post any good ones in another thread?

DOH! Red Bull. Thanks R.S. :D

I got a heap of little dots trailing smoke against the city skyline but here are a few that worked. Apologies if there's already a thread for these.

Winner of the COOLEST paintjob: Steve Jones.

Mission control of 2006 champ Kirby Chambliss' Edge 540.

Something that the RAAF need to do more at airshows. Fireworks!

while on the subject...

Bug Smasher, hope to join you and the other 500,000 odd crowd there next year! And with any luck, we may have Kiwi representation in the form of Richard Hood.
Any comments on a third type to be used in the series? I heard the MX2s look like a likely starter next year, due to being significantly cheaper. Surely the Giles 200s could be brought up to speed of the Extras too with a little work? They would have to be at least the equal of Versteegh's 300L. It is a shame the Edges are so dominant, as if it wasn't for them there would be alot more entry possibilities...

Actually, now that you mention it, what's the story with Richard Hood's involvment with the race? It'd be bloody good to see a keewee tearing it up in the races next year..

He sold that Pitts S1 of his recently, and bought an Extra 300S. He has been selected to go to the training camps in the US over the winter, to access his ability for next years season.
Another chap by the name of Klaus Petri is also over there. He also owns a Pitts S1, used to own a half share in that Yak 55, which is now based in the same hangar as our '52 in Ashburton.
It is hardly suprising, that Richard has been selected, anyone who goes to airshows in NZ will have seen his incredible displays. Even along side Doug Brooker's Giles 202, I was more impressed with the S1S at Omaka in '05.

So hopefully, fingers crossed, there could be a NZ flag in the series next year.
I really think they need to get rid of the Edges, that would even things up immensely!
