Change Management
What is going on?
Major AIRAC date comes and goes; new STARS for SY and CB are not carried 3 days after the implementation date (in the case of CB, the STARS published in August can't be flown)? One domestic airline particularly bad, the other a few “types” not ready. Previous attempts at implementing changes have discovered AIP/JEPPS/FMS data issues (discrepancies between the various docs/data); is the tail wagging the dog again? |
Yes, so the new STARS are off UFN
From a Temporary Local Instruction issued last night.
Background Some aircraft are not correctly flying the AUDLY TWO arrival into Sydney. This may indicate aircraft do not have the most recent amendments. Pending clarification in the week beginning 27 November 2006, it has been determined to suspend use of the AUDLY TWO ARRIVAL. Instructions Pending resolution of aircraft problems with the STAR, the AUDLY TWO ARRIVAL must not be issued. The default STAR for jet aircraft for RWY34L will be a RIVET arrival. |
Aircraft??
I did not know that ammendments were sent to aircraft?
I thought they were sent to pilots. |
So the problem is not that the approaches aren't ready, just that the pilots dont have the plates??
So is that the fault of the pilots for not updating their plates? Or ASA for not providing them? |

I thought they were sent to pilots. It would appear the ASA isn't at fault on this occassion; the AIP plates were published on time on budget; I know one company's type had the loaded data early last week, ready and waiting for the change; but others in the same company didn't have the same data available post AIRAC date; another company it would appear didn't have data in the boxes, but may have tried to fly it anyway, see above re ESIR. VVS, The YSCB TLI issued shortly after the RWY 35 CB STARs issue was identified, has been extended; so that covers that. RM; the RUNWAY 35 STARS for YSCB were published and in effect in AUGUST with the exception of the YASS 3 which has just changed (23 Nov); so really I'll I can say is, WTF if going on, RAZZI 2 RWY 35, not that hard really, you should be able to 'hand fly it' or punch in the turning points without too much concern? |
