Helicopter Crash in PNG

ABc is reporting a helicopter crash in PNG 160 KM N of POM. No survivors. Does anyone know whose aircraft it was? I met a couple of pilots up there last dive trip.

PNG Heli Crash

Another sad day for the Helo Industry:

A 59-year-old Australian pilot has died in an air crash in Papua New Guinea (PNG).

Ces Hathaway from Port Macquarie on the New South Wales mid-north coast was flying a helicopter with three PNG citizens also on board.

The wreckage of the helicopter, which was reported missing last Friday, has been found in dense jungle,160 kilometres north of Port Moresby.

All those on board died in the crash.

The Papua New Guinea Office of Civil Aviation is investigating the cause of the accident.

Sincere condolenses to all those concerned.

Very sad news and full sympathies to the family and well done to the boys out looking for the chopper - they have been at it for a couple of days.

I flew over the area just yesterday and it is real jungle tiger country of course and a nightmare to search. I heard it went missing near Fogamaio which is near Moro and Mt Bosavi. I believe the chopper was one of Niugini Helicopters' machines.

That makes a total of two pilots up here dying in the course of duty since March...
