Capt Fathom 17th Oct 2006 06:06

Who is going to break the news to Delta?

AEIO-540 17th Oct 2006 08:45

Looks like a fairly hard landing for a model plane, Lucky it is not a real plane.

QNH1013.2 17th Oct 2006 12:00

Microsoft have done a good job on their simulators. Hardly realistic though.

AerocatS2A 17th Oct 2006 12:05

It was apparantly done for a TV advertisement. Not real, model or otherwise.

jandakotpilot 17th Oct 2006 13:19

Was an ad for Heineken Beer prior to the world cup.:}
I have the full version of it floating around. Dont know how to attach stuff. PM and Ill email it to someone to post!

A340 landing

Has anyone seen the landing videos in You Tube ? There's a Virgin A340 cockpit video as it was doing an approach and landing on Sydney's 16R.

Search for "Landing at Sydney Airport "... you might need to let it buffer though and re-run the video again.

Very nice......

Aussie 17th Oct 2006 23:37

Good for a commercial, hardly realistic tho!

Oh to have Broadband and a few hours to kill!! but alas I have measely dial up and a 16th century artifact, also known as the Super star series KTX.....:confused:

I did manage to weasel some high speed once and Youtube.com has heaps of videos of all types of planes, commercial and otherwise. I'm amazed at the approaches to the airport right next to the beach, europe somewhere. I am promoting it, yes because it is a great way to waste time, but unfortunately no, I did'nt get a slice of the $2.5billion dollar pie...:{

Thoughts from the pilot:

Those stupid kids have messed with the landing gear handle again.

Maybe he ate a bit too much cabbage or a few too many baked beans ?

rmcdonal 20th Oct 2006 08:57

Nothing. Thats how I always land.

Taildragger67 20th Oct 2006 13:39

"They won't be expecting me to do THIS in the display!"

Riding the Goat 20th Oct 2006 14:31

mmmmm...I wonder what this handle does?

pressed_on 20th Oct 2006 20:18

I've flown over 500 combat missions in my life and I've been shot down in every single one of em. Come to think of it, I've never landed a God damn plane in my life! And i ain't about to start now!

Yep, just saw it. Why does cockpit voice thingy call the pilot flying a 'retard' at the flare? Did he flare too late? ;)

No, telling the Captain to pull the throttle to flight idle(?) for the flare. French sense of humour I guess!

That's actually Archangel7, the last time they allowed him in the jump seat.

If you look closely you can see his CPL, CIR, ASIC, Instructor Rating, Bible, desire to be an airline pilot......... :}

Oldmate 21st Oct 2006 07:46

He was trying to piss off the pilot by telling him he is a "Retard" .....justkidding - to set the throttle to Idle detent.

That's awesome .. do Boeings have such a system as well, or is only on the bus?
And so if you land heavily, does the cockpit voice thingy say "bloody idiot~!" ? LOL! ;)

No, the Boeings don't have it, it assumes you know when to idle the thrust levers and when to engage the thrust reversers.

In regards to aural warnings, you get a lot of it like "Terrain, Terrain, pull up" or warnings on "Glideslope" and the EGPWS where it gives you your radar altitude....ex... "four hundred - minimums, minimums". And if you land heavily, it says "Sh#t - you've done it again you retard !!! "
