Standard is medium and usually written tests are very easy.
In 3-4 months you can get your ATPLS!

Have just written my JAA ATPLs for a conversion from an Aussie license.
There are only 7 Oz ATPL's, however you do need to sit the 7 CPL exams prior to the ATPL's, so total of 14, but the 7 CPL exams are quite straight forward.
The subject material for the Aussie ATPLs isn’t as vast as the JAA exams (from my experience.) However, the exams I think were a little more demanding. Australia do all of their exams on a computer, so the questions seem to be extremely random, and the feedback is not as good.
Have heard good reports about a group in Maroochydore (forgive the spelling) for teaching. The cost of the exams has also become quite expensive since CASA subcontracted the sittings out to a private company.

Hope this helps
