VH-XXX 25th Dec 2007 20:40

It was Hervey Bay, in a 152, CIF, hired from ADFA.

linedriva 25th Dec 2007 21:58

XXX Your first photo is Mornington Island. As for the A/C and rego, I have no idea. I'm more used to that sight out of the front of Metros or Bandits.

morno 25th Dec 2007 22:07

linedriva, which photo are you referring to?? If you're referring to VH-XXX's photo on the previous page, that's not Mornington Island, ;).

bentleg 26th Dec 2007 03:03

Some good guesses but no-one (so far) is close. I'll give you a clue. It's in NSW.

Peter Fanelli 26th Dec 2007 03:16

Nothing at all like Durham Downs I'm afraid.

To me it looks like the country around Bourke, the town should be on the right of the photo and the river is the Darling.

Close Horatio. Well said Capt Fathom. Tilpa it is.

The original pic was taken overhead the field on upwind. About to do a circuit over the pub, so the publican can chase the roos away..... Great spot for a drink with the locals and overnight. Not much else tho.....

Thanks for the Photos and the exercise of where is it!

The aerial shots show some of the advantages of a high wing aircraft for this type of work.

That sure was a low pass to get that shot of the Tilpa Hotel :hmm:

ForkTailedDrKiller 27th Dec 2007 20:59

"The aerial shots show some of the advantages of a high wing aircraft for this type of work"

Yes, you get a whole different perspective from a low wing aeroplane!

The Comet.

slackie 28th Dec 2007 17:15

Comet....yeh I got that too (filename), and I don't even know where that is!!:}

FoxtrotAlpha18 28th Dec 2007 20:38

When - where and why?
It's got high vis roundels and AIM-9s on the wingtips, so it's pre-2003...

I don't recognise the field - Perhaps MCY for CHOGM, or maybe Nowra for when George W visited a few years back?

ABX 29th Dec 2007 04:46

Hey Doc, can you fix up your photos in 2166 and 2169? I want to have a look!:ok:

ForkTailedDrKiller 29th Dec 2007 04:57

Standby ABX! Don't know what happened there - I think my sub must have run out. Will look into it.

DONE !

PS: I'm surprised 2166 hasn't attracted a few comments!

Jabawocky 29th Dec 2007 11:56

:}

Barkly1992 29th Dec 2007 21:38

Correct - I am a PRUNE. Right click on the picture and you get the title.

Currandooley is a private airstrip near Lake George in NSW.

The F/A18 was in fact assigned to CHOGM at it is MCY - late February 2002 for a media event. It was not landing or taking off but a fly past for cameras.

Anyway Jaba wasn't convincing enough!:E
