Trent, you have outsmarted yourself completely this time :}

Pilotete..... yes indeed, but UTR is a newcomer to the beast so I was thinking of him. You are an old hand by now surely ;)

Pilotette 16th Jul 2012 22:24

I nearly read that as 'old hag'!:p
Are you Oshkoshing this year?

greybeard 17th Jul 2012 01:42

Well done, nearly a whole page and TWO photos

No wonder some of the orignal, 1998, hands gave up

Ok.

A little detail on the C195 that few get to see. The clever folding engine mounts.

Wot's happnin' with the Bonza?

Chimbu chuckles 17th Jul 2012 09:47

I have a new set of wings - well new to me - they're off a 1978 A36 that had 7200TT (EZU has 7150ishTT) that was force landed wheels down in a farmers field. The nose wheel collapsed and stove in the nose bowl (zero other damage) and the insurance company wrote it off - it must have been severely UNDERinsured. I bought the wings, and some other bits, from a fella who purchased the aircraft as is, where is, from the insurance company.

A good mate who is an A&P in Georgia flew his V35B up to Ohio, checked out the wings, took pics and pronounced the wings perfect.

Jay. I just sent him the $ and he organised EVERYTHING else - its good to have mates.

Wheel well - note the wings came with gear and brakes - brakes near zero time.

Wings stored awaiting a buyer - ME!!

http://www.fototime.com/{2D0463F3-86...t/SN150718.JPG

The wings also came with the flaps, ailerons and gear doors.

http://www.fototime.com/{A6D17FA5-79...t/SN150720.JPG

As soon as I had paid for them the VERY strange fella I bought em off insisted they be removed from his hangar - so we stored em in another hangar for a few days until the truck came and picked them up.

http://www.fototime.com/{373C8590-8A...t/SN150723.JPG

They arrive in BNE 29th July. After parting out my old wings I figure these wings will have cost me 1/4...maybe even 1/5th, of the cost of restoring EZU's old wings - not to mention getting it done years earlier.

We have a bit to do to finish off the fuselage then it wiring/panel/interior/paint.

But soon I will have a complete Bonanza again - if not all in one piece at least all the pieces will be in perfect condition and complete in and of themselves.:ok:

Wing's

Hey CC, show us some WIP on the rest of the airframe.
Impressed with the new wing's and cost outcome, sounds like a lot of co-ordinating done there. I think you were lucky to get the opportunity.

What is the plan with the panel, same as or upgrade ?

morno 17th Jul 2012 20:33

Chuck,
I'm impressed by your Bonza work. A nicely done up aircraft is sometimes better than a new one, and I'd say that'll be the case with yours by the sounds of it.

Maybe if I come and annoy Jaba again, I'll have to try and see this machine, :ok:.

Couple from recent times.

Dat would look really good in your jalopy too Dora :ok:

Have you the room with all that other glass?

Dora-9 18th Jul 2012 00:26

Thanks indeed Morno.

Just dreaming along the lines of me, Doreen-9 and the two muttlies disembarking from a King Air, Jaba.....in my current ride I had enough troubles squeezing in an Aera 500! You're not missing anything here wearther-wise, btw.

Chimbu chuckles 18th Jul 2012 01:57

Nothing much to report fuselage wise - it hasn't progressed in the last 2 years for a variety of reasons - mostly me being 3000nm away/work getting in the way and low priority from the engineers POV. I suspect that the wings arriving has re affirmed to them that I am serious about finishing this project so they're promising to get the fuselage progressing again.

Panel wise I am just gonna take the old one out, make it beautiful and put it back in again - with a Aspen EFIS.

Horizontal stab - both of those were finished years ago. Vertical too.

http://www.fototime.com/{ECC8211B-95...l%2520Stab.jpg

Fuselage is about 75% finished...and about 60% to go;)

All the riveting in this pic I actually did:ok:

Firewall fwd was finished ages ago and I put in extra cooling gills as well as replacing the 'sharks gill' type with louver type.

http://www.fototime.com/{F25216F1-38...t/PC090181.jpg

This is (still) where we are up to fuselage wise - FWD STBD side and FWD belly to go, and the small skin between the windscreen and firewall, and the fuselage will be finished, structurally speaking.

http://www.fototime.com/{A52342A8-2C...20fuselage.jpg

http://www.fototime.com/{27A9C368-E4...t/P6020316.JPG

But the light at the end of the tunnel is more well defined and doesn't appear to be an oncoming train.:hmm:

Edit: skywagon1915 the wings were a HUGE win. Best guess was to do to my old wings what I have done with the fuselage would have been 50-60k. The new wings cost me 19.5k + shipping etc. If I can part out my old wings/flaps/ailerons/etc for 10k - and the spars are good so that should be doable - I will be streets ahead....not to mention the time factor. I woulda been 80 by the time we finished my old wings:{

slackie 18th Jul 2012 02:45

Nice... I'd bet that it's going to be BETTER than brand new.:ok:

181 cubs at Oshkosh + two cents & worm in the F18's. 21 C195's in mint condition. More RV's than you could count. RV14 was there, that'll be winner!

Jack Ranga 30th Jul 2012 02:13

Plus, a country in deep recession, not a pretty sight driving through cities with multiple business houses boarded up, with a GA industry still pumping.

Australian aviation when compared with this? Embarrassing..........
