Yep Mangalore it is :D

bentleg. Nice picture - but it's 222 KB - it's 1024 x 768 pixels! :{
Please try to keep all images under 100 KB (640 x 480 pixels maximum). Not only do large photos take up band width, they also distort the thread width. Here's a post from another PPRuNe Forum: NOTE: To post a picture on PPRuNe, it has to be on a website already - whether your own or someone else's. If it's not, all is not lost ...... read on. If the picture already on a website ..... It will have an URL (the unique 'address' of that pic on the web) To find the URL (using Windows): Right-click on the picture and select 'Properties' You'll see lots of info, including the URL. Highlight and Copy the entire URL. NB: Always highlight from the beginning or you may not get the full URL if it's long. If the picture is on your hard disk ..... Option 1: Find a friend with a web site who will 'host' the picture for you They'll send you the URL for your picture so you can then post it. or Option 2: Use a photo-hosting site. Photobucket seems to be the best, very simple to use and it's free. An 'offshoot' of Photobucket is TinyPic but as far as I can see this one does not have a facility to resize the image. Once you've loaded your picture on the host, it will give you the URL - or you can use the procedure described above. Photobucket also allows you to reduce the size of any pics which are too big for the PPRuNe web page. NB: Some photo-hosting services host your pics but won't allow you to link to them from another site. Size is important! Picture size must not exceed 800x600 pixels MAXIMUM, to avoid the PPrune thread viewing window becoming too large. You can see the size of any image (in Windows) by right-cliking on the image and selecting 'properties'. There are many ways to resize images, and since most photogs have digicams now and these normally come with image handling programmes it should not present too much of an intellectual challenge to produce the correct size! There are many Shareware image handling programmes plus lots of FREE downloadable ones. A simple 'Google' search or read of a computer magazine or two will produce plenty of ideas. There are also several FREE 'on-line' image re-sizing sites. Here are a few links for you:- 1 Izhuk.com 2 Resizeimage.4u2ges.com 3 Resize2mail.com 4 Online-image-resize.kategorie.cz 5 Graphicssoft.about.com PLEASE NOTE that since these are FREE they do impose certain restrictions on file types and sizes and normally require you to permit their 'cookies' onto your machine. Now to Post!: Begin to post as normal. Click the IMG button - one of the buttons above the text box. NB: Ensure you have something other than 'BASIC EDITOR' selected in your 'User CP'/'Edit Options' An 'Input Box' will appear. Copy the URL into the address line as instructed. Click OK. Add whatever text you wish and Submit. At first, as with any new process involving computers, you'll probably go through some http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...t/pc-crash.gif moments. Common Problems: No 'Image' icon etc on the 'Reply' screen: Wrong 'Editor' mode selected. Picture doesn't display: Your post may show a link, not a picture - edit your post. Check to see if 'URL' appears anywhere in the web address of the picture. If it's there at all, it will be there twice. Remove both. (You've used information from the URL, but those letters should not appear in the final address or you'll get a link instead of a picture.) You have IMG..../IMG around the image: You have copied an IMG tag from Photobucket rather than the URL tag. To get rid of it, either edit out the excess [IMG] [/ IMG] in your post or replace the code using the URL tag. Copyright claims etc In PPrune, we don't allow pictures which have any commercial links embedded or attached. Please 'edit' these out. As usual, a PM to your local 'mod' will hopefully result in assistance if you get stuck! The above is here, courtesy of another Mod BOAC. Sunny Woomera |
Resizing Photos
To reduce an image size, download Irfanview. Open the photo in Irfanview: On the Tool bar select "IMAGE". Drop down menu "RESIZE/RESAMPLE" Right hand side click on "640x480" That will give you an image under 100KB to upload to a web hosting site and post on PPRuNe. Sunny Woomera |
I'll have a go at this... All scanned from 35mm slides. Colours went a little wonky on a couple of scans, but they're only low res. The slides used to be easier to catalog than prints and negatives and made better blowups. Now have a little Kodak digital.

All Fantastic Photos!!
Further to my northern counterpart's comments re Photobucket: You don't need to download any additional software for resizing. It's all built into the interface.
There are a couple of ways to do it. There is an edit function above each photo with which you can resize. Additionally, if you go to account options, you can limit the maximum file size anywhere from 32kb to 1024kb. Easy!:8 Keep 'em coming:8 Woomera (Eastern States) |

Okay, I have followed all the advice in Woomera's post so what am I doing wrong? I am only getting a link to my pics despite using the IMG button, copying the URL, fiddling with deleting excess IMG/URL bits of info...
The pics are on a yahoo photo album. Takes too much time on slow computers up here so I think I will give up for now... :confused: |
Capt. Nomad,
You're probably using the "insert link" button, instead of "insert image" button. 2nd from the right on the menu bar:E |
Ah, Jarse, if only it were that simple :{ - I have double checked all that, edited and re-edited but to no avail yet...
Oh, and Atlas - spot on :D You couldn't tell a mini cyclone had just gone through within the previous 20 hrs from that shot though hey?! |

I had the same problem with Yahoo photos. I switched to ptotobucket.com and haven't looked back.:ok: |

Good grief ultralights...in 1970 odd I used to trudge across the hill to that little beach behind the strut with my family most weekends. It was the site, effectively a private beach, of the Hornsby Police Boys Sailing Club.
Old wooden sheds with VJs, VSs, MJs, Moths and two Rothmans Class dinghies...anyone else ever sailed a Rothmans Class? I haven't seen another from that day to this and no-one I ever met in sailing ever did either...to the extent I am starting to doubt my memory.:uhoh: Just off the bottom of that photo I was shipwrecked the very first time...when an out of control ski boat (one of those old clinker hulled type with a converted V8 mounted inboard-well it wasn't old then I suppose:hmm: ) T boned us amidships at some horrendous speed and completely took out the boat from the waterline up...4 nine year olds, two diving off the bow and two the stern...not a grownup within a nm. We bobbed around until picked up by the rescue boat...seemed like hours but was probably 5 minutes:ok:...the marine worlds version of Stirling Moss sat alone in his boat 100 yards away..we weren't gonna swim to his boat-he was scary-the prop shaft twisted all about by our ropes and sails:D Ahh a simpler time...when 9 years were taught to be self sufficient...or drown quietly...still two laps of the beach fully clothed was the swim test you had to pass before getting in a boat so drowning probably wasn't all that likely...and it generally took longer than 5 minutes for those crap old lifejackets to become waterlogged:ok: |
This one is from Australia. I looked through the rest of my pics and most of them don't show enough detail or are too osccure to tell where they could be.
