What's the deal with Jetstar tonight?
Here's the deal, my dear mother is stranded in the Gold Coast due to Jetstar carrying out more of their flight cancellations and as you can imagine I'm pretty irate about it.
Reason is that they've told her that the weather in Sydney is bad!! Here's the ATIS: ATIS YSSY C 161007 APCH: EXP INDEPENDENT VISUAL APCH + RWY: 34L AND R FOR ARRS, RWY 25 FOR DEPS, RWY 34L AVBL FOR DEP IF OPERATIONALLY REQD + OPR INFO: PARL RWY OPS IN PROG WND: 300/7 VIS: GT 10KM CLD: FEW 4000 TMP: 15 + QNH: 1012 And for good measure: ATIS YBCG INDIA 161106 APCH: RWY: 32 SFC COND: OPR INFO: WND: 330/8 VIS: WX: CAVOK CLD: TMP: 15 QNH: 1014 So what the hell? She now has to pay for her own accomodation and has re-booked with Virgin tomorrow morning so she can get to Sydney in time to start work. The best bit is that Jetstar will not refund the ticket!! :mad: In case you were wondering, yes, I did tell her NEVER to fly with these guys as they pull these stunts all the time but of course she had to learn the hard way. Best bit is that they keep everyone in limbo until after 9pm so that people can't ring up and complain as their contact centre closes at this time. Anyone have the phone number for Jetstar's Gold Coast facility?? |
Weather was pi$$ poor this morning and many missed out. There were at least 9 holding to the NW of YSSY and 7 to the SW. I'm sure this had flow on effects throughout the day. This may be what they are referring to when they say 'weather delays'.
Cheers, NFR. |
Yeah fog delays all day. Caused SYDOOL & OOLSYD cancellations.
I imagine the aircraft were going to run into curfew issuses later tonight. Umm... Travel Insurance?? :ugh: |
oh yes ffs... they will refund the ticket.
With regards to the xxld flights the options are rebooking onto another flight or full refund. Once more... the options are: 1) Re booking onto a service tomorrow or 2) A full refund. How do I know? I was processing refunds myself this evening. Some people spin s*** on these forums. |
Hope she got back in time for work!! :}

I could be wrong but I think you will find there are :
1. No refunds for WEATHER related delays. BUT 2. A Jet* aircraft breakdown is another matter= refund or rebook. With the weather delay, there was no issue at the time of your mother’s flight but the flow on effect was the "weathers Fault" A few weeks ago in Sydney the fog caused delays that flowed on for the next 2 days; (due to crews running out of duty, extra crew being called in, lack of crews on stand-by etc.) I wonder if that was "weather related" as well? I wonder if Jet* refunded under those conditions? I doubt it. :ugh: Look on the ticket or at the disclaimer when booking the ticket. It usually outlines the cancellation/refund rules. |

I am sorry, much of those T's and C's on the ticket (especially "e-tickets" and the like), are not worth the paper they are written on and consistantly do not stand up in court. The airlines will of course not admit to this. OpsN;) |

However as it would be a fair and reasonable expectation of passengers during this particular delay/cancellation, refunds were provided. End of story. |
Another happy customer. When will they learn.
Geoff doesn't give a rats. |
Mrs C has her (stated) final JetStar experience this Sat coming. She was less than impressed with the initial experience to MEL and I suspect that she wishes she hadn't purchased a return ticket.
Her gripes:
