”My question is: is there any chance that an AU airline "nominates" and hires me?”
Hate to bust your bubble but realistically the chances of an Australian airline sponsoring you to Australia are somewhere between Buckley's and none. You've missed that opportunity by 17 years! :E

You could try independent migration but as a pilot, non skills in demand occupation, I suspect the point system will beat you.

Don't give up your jet job when you get one. As for Jetstar the current applicants are typically offering command Airbus time with 7-15,000 hrs jet, all multi crew, EFIS, widebody experience, etc.
Having said that, however, many applicants are just fishing so you never know your luck.
