NZ Medicals
Hi,
I've looked at the NZ CAA site with regard to medicals, but I can't find the information I'm looking for. Can someone please explain for what licence(s) I require a Class 1 medical, and when will a Class 2 suffice? (I'm looking at obtaining a CPL(H)/ATPL(H)). Also, how long does it normally take to get a medical certificate in NZ, and how much does it cost? I can get one in the UK at Gatwick, but it looks like it'll cost me the best part of £300 (approx $NZ900). Is that a reasonable figure, or would it be better to get one when I get to NZ? I don't have a UK civil medical certificate of either class, but I am assessed as fully medically fit for flying duties with the RAF. Thanks, SBW |
I think your best option is doing a medical here in NZ.
You will require the class 1 for your intended licences. There are several grade one medical assessors in the main cities, who can issue a medical on the spot. -you may require a chest X-Ray, and hearing test(possibly an eye exam) these are all obtainable fairly quickly if they are required. The Doc will do the ECG. I have a six monthly medical,(ECG every year) being over 40, and that costs me $230 (NZ) including issue.($180 without ECG) Costs may vary between Doctors. I pay for an audiogram with a well known clinc ($60) and an eye specialist for my contact lenses is $100. It will certainly be cheaper to do the medical here in NZ,make sure you have two forms of ID with you. hope this helps :ok: |
