Saab Icing Incident

Noticed on the TAIC website that Air Nelson Saab NLH had a severe icing encounter on a PMR-CHC flight on the 24th of September, says the report won't be out before March 2005. Just wondering if anyone has heard about it.

Yeha heard about it a day or so after it happened , had to get radar vectors away from the Kaikoras & out to the lower MSA area, well thats what I heard anyhow

How does getting vectors to a lower MSA qualify as an incident?

We requested a lower level the other day because the ride was too rough at our level, so is that an incident as well?

Messiah,

Any encounter with severe icing or turbulence is an incident, and just like a bird strike or near strike, should be reported as such. People with attitudes like yours hold the whole industry back - the purpose of reporting these incidents is so that the rest of us might learn something, and perhaps accidents like the recent convair crash could be avoided.

Good on the crew for taking a few minutes to file a bit of paperwork.
