Cessna landed in the Nerang River (Gold Coast)

apparently this pilot managed to get the aircraft onto the waters of the nerang river after experiencing engine problems.

the aircraft was on the water for a few minutes.

this damage seems to be the result of the pilot attempting to go back to base. and perhaps avoid the major power line that was in close proximity.

how does an aircraft fitted with floats, landing on a river, make the news? and could someone explain to me how FLWOP a float plane on water would cause that damage?

You would be surprised what makes the news....

A Qantas jet making a go around at Brisbane is one example of bad news reporting.

Cessna 185 seaplanes are known to drop like bricks without power. all credit goes to the pilot for walking away from the emergency landing.

the pilot decided to take off and the "accident" happened then.

I am curious.... 4 pax + pilot, C185, suspected fuel problem?? Was it a family, 2 adults, 2 kids?

Are you saying pilot has had a problem, put down safely on water and then attempted to take off again??

maybe I am just coc-eyed and looking at the picture wrong but it looks like the port float has migrated across to join the starboard float....how the bloody hell did he land to make that happen???
