Bankrunning
 

What is "bank running" all about? I am chasing an east coast job with some good IFR flying and would like some info about the operators in Brissy and Sydney as I don't really know anything about it myself.

What types of aircraft do they use? How much flying would you do a month? How much of that is night or IMC? What is the pay like generally? Any bad operators to watch out for? (PM me if you like) Is it considered good experience to have? What hours to get in as a minimum?

I always thought it had something to do with robbing banks and making your getaway in a plane, not a car.

Sounds like theres lots of runners getting airline jobs lately compared to other twin piston drivers. But maybe thats because runners tend to have more experience than the average twin piston driver in any other sort of charter company. Yes bankrunners do fly lots and are exposed to all sorts of nasty east coast weather and plenty of night hours too. You'll probably need a few hours to get a job though - 1500 hours total with 500 hours multi command sounds pretty normal.:ok: check PM's.

Bank Runners do generally get some excellent experience. There basing proximity to major centres may also attribute to recent successes into some airlines. However these candidates were also successful pilots but that should certainly not be construed as ALL bank running pilots will make airline grade. :mad:
