White-tailed 747?
Hi guys/girls...
Just a quick question... As I haven't got time to have a look on Airliners, was wondering if anyone could tell me who owns/operates the all-white 747 (200?) that came into Perth around 14:00 today. Could just be my vantage point, but the left outboard engine looked... 'funny", can't really put my finger on it.... doesn't give you much to work with, I know, but I was curious as to whether they were maybe in for a repair en route to another stop? Looked to be a large black mark on the cowling, but I was a long way off at the time.... :hmm: Any info appreciated! Sky |
It might've been one of the Air Atlanta Icelandic 747, operated for Malaysian Cargo.
I fly for them, and sometimes we go through Perth to Kuala Lumpur from Sydney. or Melbourne. My first guess would have been TF-ARL, but it's up in Amsterdam I think .... ?? Not sure. Might be TF-ARJ, I've flown it but I can't remember the paint scheme it's got. |
18 Wheelers correct- it was TF-ARJ which is an ex British Airways 747-200
The 'mark on the cowling' you saw was a mixture of blue and white engine cowlings. Looks like old BA cowlings have been added to one engine. See here |
Thanks
That's it.
Geez, just goes to show how crap my eyesight is these days.... "black mark" indeed. Come to think of it, maybe only the blue panel on the front is still on, I don't recall one on the rear of the engine (but don't trust me- my eyesight is crap!! :E ) PPRuNe sleuths do it again! ;) Sky |
The Culprit...
The plane in question:
March 16, Perth. Air Atlanta Icelandic Boeing 747-236BM TF-ARJ Side On Crew Rest Overhead Panel Engineers Panel Front On Cheers, Soulman. |
