Melbourne Cup Aerials???

That camera angle from overhead at Flemington was AWESOME!

Was it from a chopper? A blimp ? WTF?

HA

From what I understand about the aerial shots, it was taken from a Baron at 250 feet.

it was rumoured to be owned by NAC

any truth to the rumour????

it must have been a very slow flying baron or the horses were very fast!!!!!!

Great shots taken by the channel seven cameras:ok:

I was at the cup yesterday. Melbourne put on a picture perfect day for once and there was always 2 -3 choppers flying around the course at any one time... The channel 7 chopper seemed like it never left to refuel, altough YMEN is only a short hop away. I never knew Melb harbour so many drop dead gorgeous women... :ok:

Ang ;)

Musta been some pretty nifty camera gear if it was a chopper? See how smooth & defined the shot was.

HA...

p.s. 112.3 Bugga wasnt me...

Was much better when you saw it on a big screen.......why dont you get a proper one!

You'd be surprised HA. I have flown choppers where the camera, or more accurately the camera mount, was worth about the same as the aircraft! From about 50 metres at 60 knots away we could zoom in on an actors face and have it perfectly still on the screen. Mind you, for anywhere up to $10,000 a day you'd want something special.

Cheers,

Hollywood

It was a chopper though couldn't work out and weren't told what type it was.

The camera gear alone is worth about $750,000

Channel 7 had a special about it during their (Bl)Oaks Day Coverage.

I personally found the interview that Roy and HG did with the Hilton sisters an absolute pi$$er. Apparantly they weren't very happy afterwards ;)

airstairs 6th Nov 2003 15:35

The camera gear is mounted of a gyro stabilised platform so the shots are smoooooth.........

Similar type of mount is used on a couple of 4wd's that run around the inside of the course .

Apparantly they weren't very happy afterwards
A mate in the know tells me there was a bit of editing after the show, with Roy & HG having to apologise to the sisters. The girls clearly didn't understand the humour ...... especially when receiving the "Stain" jocks :p

And as for their reactions to "Dump Lotto"...... priceless!

Ang737

You would have had the beer goggles on anyway, so there probably is not as many good looking women in Melb as you think:D

Ash:ok:

G'Day Mate. Watch the news and see the talent. I still have a saw neck from the day... Surprising to see not many light GA aircraft transitting the track from YMEN to Westgate though

;)

The uplink chopper was a Eurocopter EC120, with a very switched on pilot, thank goodness.
The shuttle chopper before and after the races was also a EC120.
The big flag holding up the B06 was out of YMEN.
The traffic survey C172 was also out of YMEN.
A B06 traffic survey came out of nowhere.
The sky writers were at FL120ish and FL140ish. (C182's)
222 movements at YMEN made for a very interesting day.
