Child flight goes under
What is going on with the NZ government?
Childflight one of the best services in NZ, has been shafted by a division of our government (I.A.).
Why are they not using our tax money to top up this service, which on average flys around 700 kids per year to hospitals?
Does anybody involved with childflight know what is going to happen and is there any chance of survival?

Yeah, always thought there was something odd about her!! 
On a more serious note, it is a shame to see a service like ChildFlight get into difficulties. Let's hope it can all be sorted out.

I don't think it was Helen that started it all off. National were just as bad.
But saying that - pity she couldn't put a word in to stop it, like Air NZ.
I could go on about Labour and National but I don't think forum could take it.
I hope that whoever takes over the reins of childflight does so and keep the journey going. This is one organisation that needs support from all quarters.

YOU GUYS MUST BE KIDDING. You allow the enzed govt to bail out Air NZ and sit by and watch an essential service close down?

Something I learned recently is that we are not allowed to refer to our leader as Helen when in her presence. A bow of the head, then kiss the foot, and crawl away without making eye contact.
We all fear our dictator over here, and prey that an end to the oppresive regime is comes soon. As least before she give whats left of our country away.

The "replacement" service is sooo good that they couldn't even complete their very first transfer mission on Saturday night due to no medical staff being available.
I bet that if they called any of the staff that were made redundant last week they would have come out free of charge. that's the type of people that they are.
This new and improved childflight is a mere shell of its former professional operation.

However as much as I dislike the current government, I have read it was all the doing of the Internal affairs minister (who that is I don't know).
Samual, did you mention that it was still operating, and if so do you know who it was that stepped in with the 1 mill.

I do not think this is the Governemnts fault, I feel that it is the fault of the Board of Trustees and Management of the AKL Rescue Helicopter Trust. Y did theses people not try to obtain Corporate Sponsorship for this service and Y did ChildFlight suffer when it was the Westpac Helicopter that was in the lime light with the SFO.
I would like to thank the person who mentioned that "ChildFlight is only a mere shell of what it used to be" because it take more than an Aircraft to organise the ChildFlight and Pacific Air Ambulance (The Adult version) repats.
We, the former ChildFlight staff might be without jobs, but at least when we did do them, we did them correctly - and YES, if someone called me tomorrow and asked me to help them organise a ChildFlight transfer, I would be more than willing to give up my free time to help them.

Childflight was a very unique organisation and one that should have been helped out more. I hope that the new people or run the funding/management side of the issue come to realise the implications of shutting down the old system.
As many people have said, why interfere with something that works.
Hate to say something like this but ........ what happens if a child is seriously hurt and dies before the new childflight comes? There will be uproar from the critics.
Just a grounghog - bloody good comment. I like your style.
When the government has stepped in for everything else under the sun and helped, why not now? A question that could be taken to Helen herself. And followed up again and again, until it hits home.

To all the Aussie losers out there, who would you rather have, John sycophant, I want to be liked by Bush (and as paranoid) Howard or Helen Clark? I know which leader I think has more credibility.

Thanks to everyone that has voiced thier support - I have just been advised that the Board of Trustees that where in charge of both ChildFlight and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter have RESIGNED!!!! - I wonder what they are hidding???

Colonel, we may not agree with everything our respective "leaders" may do, but at least wee Johhny has maintained a (sort of) credible defence force. And we have decent medvac services. And we have enough electricity to run our cities. Mate, NZ is a nice country but there seems to be more than a few odd policy issues Helen and her bunch need to sort out.

We might against NZ, or PNG or a small country, but IMHO we'd stand no chance against the US, China, Britain etc.
One US carrier alone would outstrip the whole of the RAAF.
We do posses some defence capability, and probably more than that of our erstwhile Kiwi friends, and probably we should have a greater capacity for self defence.
It's interesting that Helen hasn't tried to crawl up George's fundamental orrifice, and no one has attacked NZ. Our little Johnny however, is so far up there he can't clean his teeth, and surprise surprise, we've seen Aussies die in Bali and now have real security worries.

I think you are living with your head in the sand. For your information there were Kiwi’s, and Germans killed in Bali as well. To think that fundamentalist like Bin Laden and others are only after Americans, British, Israelis and Australians is a major floor in your argument. They are against all Westerners. Their aim is for an Islamic State that rules the world and they will use all means at their disposal to accomplish it. They have a very twisted view of Islam, which calls for the destruction of all non-islams. Do you really want to live in a world like that?
