used to get a free bottle to take home for the pilot back in the 90’s

Not sure whether they still do it but in the past if you could not land at Milawa, SWS or just too big for the strip you could call them and they would send a courtesy car/bus to Wangaratta. We used that a few times for personal use and charters. That was almost 20 years ago now though. Last time I went there they had just installed all the accommodation. Always good to take a crock and fill up on Snow Port for later as well. We used to take Navajos into YILA, numbers were a bit 'fuzzy' with the power lines at one end and big trees at the other.

Gimme a nice long clear away any day, Gerry! Still, we didn't destroy the second segment by selecting full speedbrake just to get the gear up!

..and runway edge lights and PAPIs and a nice clear grassed overshoot.. oh wait, I must be thinking of Merimbula.

I'm planning to try the Apollo Bay ski-jump some day soon. Just waiting for the grass to dry out on either side...

It’s an unlicensed ALA, privately owned with PPR, what more do you want? Have you seen how wet it is in Victoria right now with regards to mowing around runway lights?

Given the height of my front lawn right now, I can well imagine!
