Expat Pilots and Enginers - GPS trackers during quarantine in PNG

EXPATRIATES arriving in Port Moresby will be required to wear bracelets (ankle monitors) costing K100 each as part of their quarantine process, an official says.
Pandemic Response director Dr Daoni Esorom told The National that the expatriates would pay for the monitor.
The Government has engaged TrackCo to track their movement while in quarantine.
Esorom said the exercise was approved by the Controller David Manning to be tested for a month.
“The controller approved the engagement of TrackCo to track them while in quarantine to ensure they adhere to the guidelines,” Esorom said.
“The costs are met by the individuals or their employers.
“It’s on trial for a month and then it will be reviewed.
PNG citizens and residents are exempted for now.”
Meanwhile, only five Covid-19 cases remain in isolation in Port Moresby with 580 fully recovered, according to the National Control Centre.
In a statement yesterday, the centre said the total number of Covid-19 cases had reached 592 after one was reported in the National Capital District (NCD) in the past 24 hours.
A 58-year-old man who resides in Koki, Moresby South electorate had tested positive.
He was admitted at the Port Moresby General Hospital with pneumonia, and experiencing shortness of breath and cough at the time of testing.
NCD’s total Covid-19 cases stands at 345. There were seven deaths.
