Not in aviation myself but know several pilots who have been, or are about to be, made redundant, put on LWOP etc. All are noticeably stressed!

If they aren't aware of this thread, I'll be attempting to pull out at least some of the many relevant / worthwhile points being made.

Thanks for the contributions.

Aside from learning about virology and epidemiology etc, perhaps you could also look at:
  • history (Spanish flu and impact of different containment strategies in, for example, the cities of Philadelphia, St Louis and Denver - Charts 19 and 20) -
You can see how Philadelphia didn’t act quickly, and had a massive peak in death rates. Compare that with St Louis, which did.

  • statistics for the change in death rates this year compared to historical averages e.g. https://www.ons.gov.uk/visualisation...ine/index.html (originally posted by ORAC on "Coronavirus: The Thread" #5329

I've learned how easily humans can fall into a herd mentality due primarily to social media (look at past epidemics...the one ingredient that stopped this world shutdown from happening in the past, was that social media was not prevalent). I've learned that hundreds of thousands will die who would not have died before...they will die from suicide, starvation, riots, forced imprisonment, racial hatreds (see China and their treatment of Africans...when it was China that incubated the virus). Seek out knowledge.. learn about epidemiology... virology...how viruses are really stopped. Protect the old and the ones with underlying conditions. The rest need to develop a herd immunity...if that had been allowed to happen.. this would all be over by now or within another week. But no. We had to destroy economies, lives, imprison children in cruel lockdowns (DUBAI) for a virus that most people have contracted and don't even know it. Each death is a tragedy.. but more will die because the cure is worse than the disease. And now these TV "experts" are saying just because you have the antibodies, it doesn't make you immune. Ludicrous! If that's true then a vaccine is worthless, because that's what a vaccine does..create antibodies to give you immunity!!
Educate yourself.
Remember 250,000 to 500,000 die every year from the normal flu..and the world does not shut down.
And what happens the next time a flu comes along.. destruction of our way of life AGAIN?!?
Regain your reason! Fight for freedom again, because the governments won't forget how easy this was...to subjugate an entire world out of fear.
South Korea got it right...
I’ve learnt that spacing and paragraphs make rants easier to read.

Layman,

I have read and listened extensively to the history of pandemics, including the Spanish (American) Flu. I have an abundance of time having lost my employment through this ;-)

I don't think I've said anywhere that a lockdown, social distancing or any of the other measures employed haven't been necessary. If you read extensively on the Spanish Flu you'll see that some of the contention about the spread was that a great deal of it, in the US at least, was because governments lied about the spread, about the infectiousness and trying to keep it quiet. It ended up being called the Spanish Flu because the Spanish government of the time didn't lie about it so the reported cases of it weren't manipulated.

Fast forward to today, who lied about the spread, who allowed people to travel overseas at the start of this? Which countries have suffered the highest casualty rates and why? It is ALL due to government and 'World Health' organisational failures and lies.

I don't know the solutions, not an expert. There have been how many deaths attributed to Covid 19 in Australia? 70 something? How may are we expecting from the Seasonal Flu? Will the governments shut down the country and economy for the seasonal flu? Doubt it. And who actually gave a rats in the past about seasonal flu attributed deaths? Apart from the family and friends, nobody.

Are you going to sign up for the Covid smartphone app? Don't worry, the Police, Feds or any other government agency aren't allowed to use the data (yeah, right). How about Google, Facebook etc, what are they going to do with it.

The old Falcon is 100% right.
