Coronavirus Exemptions - Thank You CASA.
I note today that CASA is providing time extensions of three to six months on an array of renewal requirements as a response to the Pandemic. Thank you CASA. This is not the time to be cynical about our regulator.

NO cynicism. Doesnt mean much if you dont have a job any more.
Angryism... CAsA wiil have to do way much more than just this temporary measure to atone for 30+ years of embuggerance of GA.

In fairness to CASA this is a genuine attempt to assist industry and users. CAA NZ are doing the same.
At least it saves you having to do a medical for a while.

I have cheap shares in a certain bridge for those who think this was a CASA initiative.
Doesn’t matter who came up with the idea, the fact CASA is allowing it is great.
I was due to do my renewal next week. The last place on earth I wanted to be was a doctors’ surgery waiting room.

Yep, great idea. Irrespective of who thought of it.
Let’s just hope some moron doesn’t fly into a hill and let their insurance company blame CASA for letting them fly around for too long without a check.

Casa had no choice they would not have been bright enough to initiate it themselves anyway! This directive had to happen to keep alive what's left of our decimated aviation industry!

It will be interesting to see how much Airservices and CASA downsize over the next few months. Maybe some of them could move to ATSB to work on some of the chronically-overdue aviation accident investigation reports?

Word on the grape vine is exams centres are closing up, and apparently our favourite genius is resistant to extending the 24 month window. Was done without question in Euroland...

Government won’t dare shed positions in this bleak upcoming economic climate. Different story in around 9+ months.

Indeed. CASA seems to be the primary reason the aviation industry has little to no resilience to any form of economic / social change. The one upon us now is going to reverberate for a long time.

We have never had a brave politician that I can recall that had enough smarts and determination to drive sense into the bureaucratic structure, boys clubs and trough feeders the taxpayers have had to endure for the past 30-50 years of just me observing the decline of freedom and rights in this country. Phew. That was a long sentence.
