CASA examiner overseas for Ground component of IPC
Good day ,
Can anyone help me with information , I am trying to find a CASA ATO or examiner Overseas, probably close to Europe, who can help me with ground component for IPC for my ATPL Licence , Unfortunately CASA couldn’t provide any contact or Information, and making a trip all the way to Australia from Europe just for ground component would be big hassle, did try and call few sim centers but unfortunately they all don’t have CASA approved ATO or examiner.
my last option will be to fly back to Australia, but I am trying my best to avoid it.
Can anyone help me with this please,
thank you

Prior thread on this forum "A330 Simulator" mentioned Greendot Aviation Bangkok, appears they were able to access oral and SIM to meet CASA requirements.
Maybe worth contacting if nothing else pops up.
Cheers.

Would it be so difficult for CAsA, if the rules are so important for "Safety", to set up an online examination as an alternative to the oral part of a renewal.
The industry is collapsing in Australia under the burden of over-regulation driving up costs to unsustainable levels, more and more Australian pilots will consider the option of training overseas. The costs in America are almost half that of Australia, the only thing propping it up here are HEC's and foreign students many of whom are here for the Visa rather than the qualification.
As the industry contracts, more Australians will also have to look abroad for employment and as this thread illustrates the difficulties of retaining the currency of their Australian qualifications will compound.
If the test of knowledge of the rules must be in oral form, could this not be conducted by Video link with an ATO?

Here's the form from the CASA website.
You could do the oral with an Aussie Flight Examiner by Skype, if the Examiner accepted that (as I see nothing in the rules to say an oral means 'face to face'). The problem arises with the Examiner having to sight the candidate's medical and placing a signature on the licence. That stuff can't be done remotely. So, at some stage of this process you would have to present in person.
I agree that CASA seem to stress more about whether pilots know the rules than whether they can actually fly. If they cede control of the flight test to foreign ATOs on trust, surely they could allow the foreign organisation access to a question bank?
Or better still, require the questions to be done on line. At least that way we would get some consistency in the way the rules are interpreted and a guarantee that all the questions are actually asked and answered.

Just like to clarify terminology with VH DSJ - are we talking countries or (CASA) approved training organisations within countries?
If you're flying for an airline based in one of the countries he mentioned does an IPC SIM component of C&T conducted by that airline - under their local rules - satisfy CASA?
My understanding is CASA do not accept individual airline SIM checks - only accepts:
- SIM check by a CASA approved training organisation within a country;
- oral check by a CASA certified checker.
The two can be obtained independently.
Just asking for clarification as one would expect these questions will only increase as more "skygods from the antipodes" venture out to educate the great aviation unwashed!
Settle, settle...only joking!
Cheers.

CASA also required a copy of the foreign checkie's license and his FAA check and training approval and the sim center also needed to provide the simulator's qualification certificate. Once you've obtained all the paper work, you then hand that over to the CASA ATO when you do your oral assessment back in Australia and he/she then does the rest.
As you can imagine, it's a lot of paper work to deal with, but it all came through ok in the end. The alternative to all this would have been more expensive and time consuming IMO, so it's well worth the effort.

Hi All
I know this thread is a year old but just wondering how everyone is doing it this year with the travel restrictions? Was anyone able to get specific guidance from CASA about exceptions or extensions besides the 3 months one?
I unfortiantonely will not be able to leave Europe and my IPC is due. I need my multi instrument rating current to eventually convert it later this year..
any recommendations would be greatly appreciated
thank you
