Instrument Rating Test requirements En route navigation
Question on instrument ratings. Specifically CASA Form 61-1503
Instrument Rating Flight Test.
Under Flight Component 3.3 En route cruise
(a) "Navigate en route using ground and satellite navigation systems.
Question: Does that mean if the aircraft does not have a GPS it cannot be used for an instrument rating test or an IPC?

CAO 20.18
If I am reading CAO 20.18 correctly, then regardless of age an IFR aircraft must be fitted with a GPS.
Which would then also suggest that you can’t do an IPC in an aircraft that is not approved for IFR.
So the Part 61 issue isn’t really an issue if your aircraft is approved for IFR.

Yep, now mandatory for IFR aircraft, mandatory that IFR pilots know how to use it . Annual IPC includes proving they have not forgotten how to use it.
Now, if only we had the FAA rules, pilots would prove it once to get the rating, then simply keep current on it....
