RFDS central

Looking at applying for RFDS Central Ops. The flying from the outside looks very interesting, meaningful and the PC12 looks like a great machine! All the information online is a little dated along with the EBA.
Wondering if any one has any experience with them and can shed some light on what they are like to work for current conditions, roster, ect..
PM’s are welcome

Dont,
Just dont.
Its a toxic work environment with an operational mentality generally on par with lower rung GA.
If you want to fly aeromed, I suggest Central ops and Western ops be the last place you should apply.
If you want to work aeromed in in the Territory, apply to Careflight.

Interested in RFDS myself. May I ask what sort of stuff has been going on? PM if you'd prefer.

Steer clear of Central, very unprofessional outfit and a toxic work culture.

Everything has been covered in previous posts. But chalk and cheese between the RFDS sections in terms of conditions and culture. Queensland and South East run a pretty tight ship as do Careflight up in the NT.

Apply to the above before wasting your time with the circus known as RFDS central section.

I can't speak for Central Section, but Westops has improved with the new CEO, and the departure of GM Aviation.

Would you know what is happening with the Meeka position that was advertised?

Out of interest why do the RFDS operate several independent organizations ? Would it not be more efficient to have one operation managing across Australia.

Western Ops was thoroughly toxic. Plenty of lovely people there, but NOTHING LIKE a just culture.

In short yes but realistically probably not. Imagine the challenge with state departmental squabbles, state donations and dismantling the RFDS empires. Would it even be possible now and who would be strong enough to lead the campaign

Always aspired to join the 'doc over the years (specifically Central), interesting to hear this. So far those in the aviation sector I've spoken to didn't seem to say it was a bad place either, most perplexing?

Makes me sad. And not a bit nostalgic. WA ops were once most enjoyable to work for. Started in the hangar at Jandakot under the late Rod Lawrence. (There was a gent if ever there was one..) Anyway , pardon me. This is not about the past.

More recently I knew the late Tony Norman. He was on the PC12 out of Meeka. He said he enjoyed his time there.

This came from a friend in ATC , Seems i'm not permitted to post a link.
Interesting to see the outcome of this.

Flight below minimum altitude involving Pilatus PC-12, VH-FDJ, near Adelaide, South Australia, on 18 July 2017

Investigation number: AO-2017-075

Is anyone currently working at central ops actually enjoying it there? Just interested to hear a point of view from the other side of the fence

You're joking right??? CareFlight Limited (International) just made their NT Jet Base Manager redundant after years and years. They have been offloading experienced staff with mega loads of experience and IP in drastic measures to improve that financial position...which is dire. Be careful of CareFlight right now. The lunatics are now in charge of the asylum.
