RV down Central Coast
The bad news fairy at the ATSB has just published advice of an RV-6A down at Somersby on the Central Coast, earlier today.

Not much news of this but did find the above.
A 75-year-old man has been airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital, after an incident at a Somersby airstrip in his private plane this afternoon.

Thanks for that OttoL, the ATSB announcement said nothing about the pilot's condition and I feared the worst.
HERE's the satellite view.
RWY 35 has a 2% downslope, in this case, towards the accident scene.

It is my sad duty to announce the passing of Richard Pincus this afternoon.
Richard, as he usually did, had flown down from Sommersby in his RV6 to tow for us on Sunday. As the winds picked up, the club flying day was cancelled. Richard waited around for several hours and then headed off. Upon landing, he overshot the end of the runway and into the ditch at the end. He never regained consciousness as he was transported to Royal North Shore. After the arrival of his family from around the world, life support was turned off this afternoon and the end was fast.
In typical Richard style, even in death, everything is quite well organised and there will be no funeral, at his request. A wake will be held at a time to be decided after Easter. Details will be passed on when known.

ATSB report out today
Not much can be said, approached too fast, too high, downhill slope, landed long, bounced and did not go around.
Maybe he was tired after a long day and relaxed a little too soon......
