Don't get too picky.
A ringer who knows how to type is a rare thing indeed.

PRIST

When I did a bit of dragging fuel hoses around under the Shell banner we were not allowed to touch the stuff. If someone wanted to put it in I'd hand them the over wing nozzle, walk away and stand up wind.

If PRIST was considered bad for your health, how would you describe driving a fuel truck?

Hardy ha ha wingnut.

It would appear that every one on the airfield/airport/aerodrome is sworn to secrecy over the Skippers incident.

Guys, just a thought, but perhaps not everyone in the Aviation world monitors PPrune? It could just happen to be that the people in the know, shock horror, aren't members on here and those that are haven't had the gossip trickle through to them yet?

It really could be less of a conspiracy that some are suspecting due to a lack of information on here and really just be that no one in the know on this particular situation happens to frequent here.

That’s an unlikely thought Ixi. By the way under the new Qantas guidelines I’m not sure you can call us guys.

I was referring to turboprop. If you read the rest of that particular post you would see where I said I put it in plenty of jets.

Hahaha, my apologies, I shall endeavor to use "Hey People" or perhaps "Hey youse" in the future, perhaps "Hey (Insert self identification here)" would be most appropriate? Good thing I don't work for Qantas ey?

Driving a fuel truck isn't going to harm your health unless you crash it. However putting the fuel from said truck into aircraft is another matter. I spent 20 years putting fuel into aircraft from a bowser - sometimes having to lean right over the tank openings to check the fuel level such as when someone wanted fuel just up to the tabs on PA32's. Ditto 20 years of putting Prist into aircraft on various occasions, but believe me I was very careful with that stuff. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger!

DF; Considering that some of the Fruitcake we used to bring you I would have classed as 'hazardous material', I'd say that the quote above could be engraved in stone!

Haha I think the leftover breakfast packs from the earlier days were probably a worse hazard - at least the fruitcake was sealed up!

We're now up to the fifth page of intrigue on this topic.

So did the aircraft simply run out of fuel? Or something else?

Not too sure about the fuel system on the 441. Is it possible to inadvertently crossfeed one tank all the way to vapors?

I would guess there are quite a few people who look at these pages and know exactly what occurred. They are also smart enough not to make comment here so that anything said, no matter how benign, can be twisted to make the proverbial mountain out of the mole hill.

I suspect that you are quite correct about people knowing.
But I'm not sure that I'd call outlanding a Conquest "making a mountain out of a molehill".
If it had happened just a bit earlier in the flight he might have been scratching to find a suitable place to land.

It's not like it's going to be a secret forever. ATSB will release a report eventually.

Eddie Dean : Where did he land? East of the road house or south?

It was on Sandfire Road, Great Northern H'way, heading to Roebuck Roadhouse when I saw it.
So was SSE of Sandfire and northish of Roebuck.
Lovely young ladies at Roebuck, great night on Friday and Saturday if you happen to be a ringer that can't type. 😊

Sorry, now I'm confused.
Do you mean SSE of Roebuck roadhouse and (well) north of Sandfire?

And I presume the ladies were in Roebuck hotel, in Broome.
You'd be the first ringer I know of who was at all concerned about loveliness.
