Mildura closed to GA?
The last time I visited Mildura was about 2012. Everything was locked and there was no toilet accessible from airside. My partner and I both peed in some remote spot, filled the aircraft and left. On an earleir visit my partner was upbraided fr going to the terminal to use the toilet with no ASIC while I was filling the aircraft. I wont be going back, except maybe for fuel, much as i would like to stay the night and try stefanos(?) for dinner.
Stefano's at Mildura? Always a great place to have dinner and even breakfasts these days. (We always book into the Commodore Motel across the road.)

Nice little airport and easy access to fuel.
Had to make an additional runway to get airborne again but the grass was good.
Landing at Shepp was interesting!

Has the consultation period closed? As a community, aviation is not bound to one point yet uses all points within the wider community. We need to make a submission as "out of towners" who need the use of this bit of road.
A tank of fuel, a couple of cans of drink and a sandwich...not to mention, a night or two of accommodation, meals and car hire add up to a nice little bit of revenue injection into the businesses of the good burg needs pointing out.
It is worth noting YRED was also under pressure back in the mid nineties. Council public meetings to "balance" the views of the greeny nuters, a councillor pointing out the council was paying waaaaayyy too much in insurance and community benefit of having the aerodrome. From that point on, YRED took off...lots of missed opportunity as well but in general, the community has prospered.

Good point. To that end, who should do the submission? If a submission isn't done properly it can undermine our cause. I believe that this is something that AOPA should be submitting on behalf of their members and the wider GA community. Does anyone know if they get involved?
Too late, according to the article linked, the 28 day period was during November. So, any news regarding council deliberations?
I should take better note of all information available. It would appear even the shouting is over.

One of the problems is that the airports strategic plan was not put on public display. The previous version is available on the council website, but not the new one.
The strategic plan on display was pretty laughable. It was pretty much a blank cheque for the CEO to do what he likes - which it appears he has done.
One wonders if the elimination of GA parking is vindictive retribution

Regional Airport Users Action Group
It is never too late to lobby: visit face book and search for "Regional Airport Users Action Group" - though the opportune time has passed.
There are also other airport communities under pressure, come visit the group and add your support by joining. This is an Open Group at the moment - join before it becomes a closed group.
