And so are 'user fees' for an asset that you have paid for several times over through other taxes and 'user fees'

At least she provided a few GA companies with some hire revenue before she resigned.

Maybe now she's resigned from the front bench, she'd like to work on some aviation issues.

It'd be nice to have a pollie that knows more about aviation that just the location of the Chairman's lounge, actually getting involved in a portfolio/ cause that's not really a vote winner.

Sad she has gone as I think she was doing a good job. I support her use of her single engine plane to fly around her electorate but it's a bit rich hiring a twin so you can keep your CPL current flying the RPT routes.

I use mine for work sometimes and are happy to do so just claiming the tax deduction. Perhaps if she had done this she would still be in a Ministerial job.

Ohrrrr-

Look, it 'shall' all be Good (Mal and The Team), stay calm.

The Barn (aka the Flapping Shed Door) told me so........, at 'Camden Park' 2+ x years ago with 'the Tone'/ a Deputy PM and associated hangers on.

Now, 'Apparently' agriculture shall save the AAA Credit Rating................... for us all, Record Prices for Cattle- all bloody GOOD, don't worry 'We've Got This'............ + the Free Trade Deals.

I truly, am way too dumb, but right here, right now we- onsite in the less unreal parts of AU are clicking into the/our 6th year of Declared Drought in 4th World Australia, and as such- being the Bulk Breeding Capacity of the Eastern Seaboard, have been cutting the Heads Off Females (Bovines guys) and Burning Overhead (you can't turn those Input Costs/Parasites OFF) for some 4+ years............

She (Ms Ley) and "They" will save you all/us, don't sweat it- if I could farm out the Hire Cost to fly myself in someone else's frame and log the hrs, why not- keep me current at someone else's expense...........

Stay safe all- "these" people are in No-Way Removed from the ACTUALLITY that is Australia................

Rgds all

Methinks you may have imbibed too much of the in-flight refreshments, S28-BE.

Regarding Sussan Ley and some optimistic hopes that she could perhaps contribute to sorting out the mess that is CASA.

Alas..

"She's not the Messiah, she's a very naughty girl!"

(My apologies to Monty Python.)

At least she was honest and acted appropriately by standing down when the issue went viral. Plenty of others in the past who have had to be removed kicking and screaming over a long period of time for far worse things.

She did do a good job as the health minister.

Re Charlie Jones - Minister for Transport incl Civil Aviation in the Whitlam era.
Charlie only had a primary school education and prior to politics was a waterside worker or wharfie. Being from Newcastle his main interest was trains. Basically the rot in Australian aviation set in during this period.

(From ABC News.)

"Ms Ley famously changed the spelling of her first name to Sussan, after discovering a numerology theory claiming it would bring her an exciting and interesting life."

Cheers, Gerrry.
