The 'right to disconnect': France considers law allowing people to ignore work emails at home | smh.com.au
Who works for a company that needs this?
As a person who works for a company currently undergoing an exodus, it is now a common expectation to be available to "help out". They expect staff to go above and beyond by being available on days off, or when you should have signed off and be enjoying time with family, or managing fatigue.
Maybe a ban on emails going direct to your PED is one for the next EBA negotiation.

At the company I work for you only receive emails via your company email address. You have to specifically ask the IT department to allow access. It's certainly not expected or requested.
In any case there is zero nil zilch requirements to check your email outside of rostered duty. It's not a problem unles you make it one.

A few years ago I was told to get the work email set up on my iphone. The IT department helpfully provided a form I needed to fill out to be permitted to have my phone connect to the Exchange server. One of the terms I needed to agree to was to grant my employer permission to remotely wipe my phone in the event that they deemed it necessary.
I declined at that point to proceed further, and have never checked my work email outside of the work computer network.

That's either bad policy or may just have been poorly worded - most MDM systems allow for just the employer data to be remotely wiped (it's kept totally separate) , leaving the rest of the phone unaffected. If they really mean the whole phone then either they provide you with a work phone or they can GTFO.
