Legendary aviator to complete epic flight

Does anyone know more about this?

Apparently a well known east Gippsland aviator is going to embark on an epic flight including somewhere where it is very cold indeed to somewhere of Olympic proportions....

One of the Best:

I don't know where Ben plans to fly but where ever it is I wish him luck and Bon Voyage. This country would be better off if it had a few more of his calibre.

O.P.

I know nothing of the details but my reading of your riddle is way southbound then northbound to Rio.

If true, that's a big journey in summer. But at this time of year it's suicidal.

All I've heard mentioned thus far in the one sentence is Antartica and the Falklands... Should prove interesting in many ways !

Is this thread missing a link? Or what is it referring to?

Sorry Dick, it was a bit cryptic because I didn't know the details.

Apparently Ben Buckley is heading off in a Pioneer 300? RA-Aus aircraft in a flight that involves Antartica and the Faulkland islands. Unfortunately I don't know much more! He said some time ago after his Victoria to NZ trip direct in a Light-Wing 582 2-stroke Rotax, this proposed trip looks almost like a breeze. He has sold his 172 and "upgraded" to the Pioneer.
