Does anyone know, has the aircraft been removed yet? DF?
Haven't heard anything, so don't know. A friend of mine went up that way yesterday afternoon, but I haven't been in touch with him since to find out if he saw it or not.

DF.

That is a clever method of retrieval. Otherwise it would need to go on a trailer with tundra tyres and I guess you can't drive a tray truck out there !

I routinely carry an iSat Satphone on my camping expeditions to some of the most remote places in Oz and it's always worked for me; I ring home most nights to report in. An alternative is a Spot Tracker which uses satellite tech to power an interweb app that shows where the tracker is, plus the user can send sms, 'ok', and sos / plb msg via satellite. UHF (CB) radio is also surprisingly useful as is 121.5 (which apart from airlines is also monitored by RFDS who have quite a few aircraft bogging around the GAFA at any given moment). Epirb is a great tool for incidents like this, unfortunately grossly abused in some areas where it is the first step when the tinny runs out of fuel halfway between the islands.........

So the only way that one can now get to park in front of Trevor's pub, is to first put the Fokker down on Lake Eyre?

P.S. Serious CAVOK wx there.

Saw what you did there, GIII.

Let's hope it's never us having to put the Fokker down, on Lake Eyre or otherwise ...

Folks,
Williams Creek is a top spot!!
Interesting (as in strange) aeronautical things have been happening there for years.
The story (true) of day the C-172 climbed up the tray of the Telstra Toyota Landcruiser flat-bed ute. always brings tears of laughter to my eyes. And that is just one.
Tootle pip!!

I looked at Nibbles photo and what I saw was a quad bike on a public road with no number plate, no registration label, a rider who is not wearing a helmet or HiViz jacket, possibly colourblind and obviously had his last quad maintenance at a non approved shop.
If CAsA were responsible for the roads then this photo would have the poor bastard in jail, financially raped, deemed as an unsuitable person and banned for life from ever entering a public road. Lucky for him he isn't regulated by CAsA.

Certainly is, or was anyway way back in 1984 when I was passing through the place with a Seismic Survey crew.

Experienced severe toppling of gyros on one memorable evening there!
